Cuelamens should not be traded! He and Jiricek are the only top 4 potential RHD Columbus has, even Peeke, Boqvist, Blankenburg and Gudbranson should really only be 3rd pair on a contender.

Honestly, if Philly would take Peeke or Blanks rather than Ceulemans in this deal, and retain some salary on Hayes, I think it'd be a slam dunk for Columbus. But Ceulemans is a guy they need to hang onto.

The Sanheim contract is too long imo. He's signed until 2031 and would almost certainly end up as a 3LD making 6.25m in that time.

Too much meh cap for CBJ or any team to consider. 13.5m for the two Flyers could be spent better...even if the Flyers gift the two Hayes and Sanheim.

Yeah, I think that's a fair read as well. Honestly, I'm coming around to the notion that Columbus shouldn't be making big moves this offseason; we should get 1 or 2 transitional pieces in (I'm thinking Calvin De Haan at LD; maybe trade Bean and/or Peeke to acquire more draft picks or upgrade somewhere else), but really save our firepower for the next offseason, when we'll need to resign KJ/Sillinger/Marchy, and our competitive window starts to open in earnest in 24-25.

Hayes isn't a terrible transition player for the team. Everything really depends on what happens with the lottery though which is why I think the trade didn't happen before the deadline. I've been wanting to do some acgms lately but they feel so pointless since the future varies wildly based on what happens with the ping pong balls.
