Chiarot doesn't waive for Chicago, And Veleno plus a 3rd is a major overpay for Tyler johnson.

Tyler Johnson is a health liability, You'd be lucky to get a conditional 7th round pick for him.

also no shot you get a first rounder for Jones. The real argument is whether CHI could dump him for free. I'd argue not without taking some terrible contracts back

Sabres aren't overpaying to hope Jones fits in their system. You'll need to retain before you even think about a 1st. And if Johnson wants to sign in Buffalo he's off the table

Jones has a $9.5mil Cap hit, for the next 7years after this
Sabres aren’t doing that- even if he was free, let alone for a 1st & good defenseman prospect

Maybe if u held half his salary/Cap hit
    But even then, idk

That's my point. The depth players TOR brings in are useless on their team cuz of the deployment/system, but under a different usage they'd be more effective.

I think DET would be happy to rid themselves off that Chiarot deal.

Well, it's not hard to anticipate that for a guy like Jones, alongside the right linemates which he'll have in BUF, and system, he'll be successful.

I think TOR will need to start moving away from Acciari/Schenn type players. Not enough puck control.

They want physicality and a lot of it. They are keeping one of the two or probably both of them. Because they have so little physicality on the team they are definitely sacrificing puck control for physicality

I wanna add one thing about the Gudbranson trade, what I have been told is that Kuraly is most likely going to become an alternate captain and is not going to be traded. I attempted to make a Kuraly trade and I got absolutely trashed on by CBJ fans

Buffalo is going to have to pay Dahlin in another year, and eventually Power. They aren't going to go the route San Jose did for a few years paying over 40% of their cap to their Dmen.

    He’d also be a $9.5mil CAP HIT
And while it seems we have a lot of room now,
Dahlin & Power both are gonna get big $$ contracts soon
And it’s doubtful (imo) we will wanna be paying 3 defensemen big $$$

So while he might fit in great here as a player,
his Cap hit just doesn’t work for us at all

TB laughs hysterically at this trade. it would leave TB with 17 contracts and 5.8 million in cap space however neither Colton nor Jeannot would be resigned yet so this is absolutely stupid for TB

    I disagree, particularly if they want a ‘23 2nd.

Even with a Bedard/Fantilli, I don’t see this team making any big leaps next year. Swapping out Guds for NZ feels like a lateral move in terms of talent, and since cap space won’t be a problem next year, I don’t feel any rush to move Guds.

Stick it out for another year or two, bench him, bury him, buy him out, whatever. It’s a bad contract for a bad contract, and we were ****ed with Guds from the moment he signed that abomination of a deal, so might as well.

my opinion on picks outside of the 1st round for the next ~2-3 years are pretty loose. We have a **** ton of prospects now, 1sts are really all that's important to us for now. Yeah I know you can get people in later rounds, and our team has a pretty good history of that, but as of right now I'd rather get readied players than letting the entire roster come from the prospect pool

Well then you need to play a system where the skaters make less touches on the zone entry and o-zone cycle. Maybe do a 2-3 forecheck and crash the net off point shots & slot shots. All this high-low movement, cross-scene pass is killing the usefulness of guys like Acciari/Lafferty/Kerfoot etc.

Fair enough. I mean, it’s hard to ask for a better situation than BUF if you have 4 elite defencemen, an elite top line, 3 elite centers. The rest you can fill out sparingly.
