While the Devils already have Hamilton and Marino signed on for the next 5+ years Addison + Hughes + Nemec are the future of New Jersey. Addison’s likely going to be moved due to lack of playing time and trust from Dean Evason. Minnesota extends John Klingberg and brings up Brock Faber. Addison’s the odd-man out. He gets a change of scenery on a LOADED Devils team as he can help Hamilton make both PPs deadly. He’s a legit PP QB. NJ has a better cast of talent as well.
Meanwhile, Holtz is caught in a similar situation like Addison. The Devils are in win-now mode and already have a loaded top-9 if anything. How does Holtz fit into their top-6? Holtz needs to play games where he can grow his game and Minnesota needs goal scoring forwards. Matt Boldy needs help. Holtz is still on his ELC until 2025-26 which is when the cap years are over! So Guerin won’t have to worry about signing another contract.
