Detroit is not paying for Petry.

Hållander + Nylander + Lindberg + Petry for future considerations may have a chance.

That’s laughable. We have no need to trade him. You need a RHD. You have absolutely nothing behind Seider. Everyone knows Zadina is basically Kapanen on a better cap hit and Veleno is never going to be a top 6 forward.

Believe me it’s the least important trade on here and if you guys want to spend the rest of the decade rebuilding enjoy.

Believe me, we don't want Jeff Petry just because he's from Michigan.

lol I think Detroit fans just enjoy the perpetual rebuild. They seem to reject nearly any trade involving adding any NHL talent unless the other team is getting severely ripped off.

He would make your team suck less but that’s fine. Enjoy rebuilding for the rest of the decade.

Pretty broad paint stroke there sir… however unfortunately not without its merits. “The worst is a stretch though.

He wouldn’t improve the team enough to warrant the losses from the trade, as well as the contract to what seems like future plans for the team.

Talent, what talent are you speaking of, I ask. Petry is done and Carrie's way too much cap for what he brings. Hallander has been traded what 2 times? I love when you try to peddle crap and cap dumps and talk about us try to rebuild. This is the exact opposite of rebuilding getting older slower and more cap hits is not the way to rebuild. Zadina is not a star and probably not going to be one. Veleno is the prototypical 4th line center.

Losses? Every single wings fan is trading Zadina and half of them are trading Veleno. If your players were better your team wouldn’t be bad.

They are both younger than the non NHL “prospects” you are trading them for, while both being actual NHL players. While not projected to hit their draft pick potential, both have improved each and every year. Tage proves that players can improve at their own rates (by no means am I saying these two come close to half of that). These two are doing that.

Petry coming in would be subtraction by addition. Detroit dealt Hronek who is younger, cost controlled, and better than Petry. With Hronek, Z, and Veleno in the lineup the Wings were neck and neck with the Pens. Remove those three players and add Petry and the Wings are swimming with the lottery.

toss in your 25 and 26 1st round picks and the Yotes would consider moving Keller. As it stands PIT will need to look elsewhere for a PPG player.

But Petry has played well this year and is an actual good NHL player. Zadina is going to be on waivers if he sticks around there. Veleno is at best a 3C and that’s the max. Again your fan base overrated your players more than anyone I’ve seen on CF aside from possibly Vancouver.

4 1sts? Never happening and your team would definitely trade him for 2 firsts, it’s just a matter of which other prospects would be needed in the deal. Everyone saw with the Chychrun trade that AZ isn’t taking NHLers back unless they’re dumps. If we could still trade cash I think they’d take a big pile of it. In fact your lineup would probably be piles of cash on skates.

Petry is clearly a top 4 nhl defenseman. Especially on a weak team like Detroit. Your post confirms exactly what I am saying. You literally say that the trade as constructed is not for a rebuilding team. Detroit fans enjoy the perpetual rebuild.

I’m not disputing that Petry has played well. All the more reason to keep him for “the window”

Zadina is more than stats, and at his current cap hit is a more than capable bottom 6. I agree Veleno looks like a 3C, maybe more of a Ras following into a winger.

If I were to rank over evaluation teams, I think the list would be TML, VAN, DET, MTL

Your rebuild is coming. Your prospect cupboard is completely empty. Since your last Cup, you've been doing what we did in the late 2010s after our glory years, hanging around just to make the Playoffs. Reality will sink in soon for you, and you'll realize the Penguins are a shade of the team they used to be, and you're looking at a 5+ year long rebuild in the not so distant future.

Hopefully it won’t be a decade of no playoffs, which is what you’re closing in on. If your players were as good as your fans in CF think they are you’d be in a wildcard spot, not rapidly fading and getting owned by a bad Flyers team.

Math must not be your strong suit, we've missed 6 straight, which is not close to a decade. Also Yzerman sold at the deadline, I guess you must have missed that? That's what happens when you trade good players, the team gets worse. Yzerman wants a Cup eventually, he's not interested in just making the playoffs to make the playoffs.

This is year 7 that’s you won’t make it. He traded two players, one of which was hurt most of the year.

Again Math, not your strong suit. Hronek plus Vrana plus Bertuzzi plus Sundqvist equals 2 players...

Ok then!
