Since PLD is, to give him the benefit of doubt, most likely, to walk in UFA (if he isn’t traded) to MTL at his earliest chance, why would the Canes make an offer for him? All MTL has to do is really wait an extra year and they have the best odds at picking him up for free, or if they want him sooner, they can lowball WPG since WPG has no leverage in this situation. On what planet does any other team make an offer for PLD if the likelihood of him resigning with that team is as close to 0 as this situation seems?
