This looks pretty spot on. I really like the moves to the forward corps but man, Klingberg us going to so show Wild fans why Addison isn’t nearly as bad defensively as they say he is.

Little nervous about that. But if they pair him with Brodin it might have better results than having Addison play with Merrill

Which is why you shelter him on the 3rd pairing. Sure, Brodin can cover for his defensive deficiencies. But your compounding that issue by playing him in the top 4 and sending him out against stiffer competition.

He's your Addison replacement or at least he should be on the 3rd pairing and PP 1.

On the flip side he'll show Wild fans how terrible Addison is as offensive d-man for the non-pp part of the game.

IDK, I just don’t think Dean’s system rewards risk taking. Especially with this year’s forward corps. The one thing I’m sure of is that Klingberg is gonna look pretty bad defensively.

This is just really confusing to me. You’re right that Klingberg should be in Addison’s role but I haven’t seen why we felt it was appropriate to find a replacement for him. I’m in the boat that Klingberg should be a marginal improvement on Addy but I haven’t seen what the coaches have apparently seen.

Just confused by carrying 8 D.

The systems are the same as last year. 8 of the top-9 FWDs are were the same as last year (yes losing Fiala hurts). 5 of the 6 d-men were the same as last year. They are all still playing the same ways, just the luck rubber band bounced back from stupidly high to the lower than average. The PP has been the only constant between the last ~60 games from last year to what it is this year.

Addison (before his benching) was a complete non entity in the o-zone. You'd think he was Brodin playing under Yeo with how quickly he retreated from the o-zone if there was any type of pressure on the puck. Him just not being anywhere near the blue line killed so many possessions. His d-zone game is a noted hazard. He adds nothing but a warm body 6D to the team.

Carrying 8D makes plenty of sense if you remember last year STL was down to their 8/9/10 d-men in the Playoffs. MN had Goli, Addison, and Mermis in a game not too long ago. Brodin is out currently and Spurgeon hasn't had his annual injury yet.
