Helly trade offers

Créé par: End_of_the_Laine

Description
Assuming Chevy does his job and knows by June pre-draft that Helly won't, or most likely won't resign with the Jets he has to start entertaining trades for him....I'm not sure we've seen a goalie of the caliber traded in the cap era, so few comparables, here are the offers.
Transactions
1.
WPG
  1. Edvinsson, Simon
  2. Husso, Ville
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (NYI)
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
The Athletic has Edvinsson as the 5th best prospect in hockey, although Husso has a NMC, the Wings can easily bury him in the minors if he didnt accept this. Both picks although 1sts aren't lottery risks, possible the Jets would even ask for the Wings 24 1st instead of the Bruins.
DET
    For Helly
    2.
    WPG
    1. Comrie, Eric
    2. Savoie, Matthew
    3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (BUF)
    4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (BUF)
    Détails additionnels:
Jet's need someone manning the crease, Comrie comes back again. Savoie is the Athletic's 10th best NHL propsect
    BUF
      for Helly
      3.
      WPG
      1. Jarvis, Seth
      2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (CAR)
      3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (PHI)
      4. Choix de 4e ronde en 2024 (CAR)
      Détails additionnels:
Jets take a bit less in the one with an already established Jarvis coming back in return
      CAR
        for Helly
        4.
        WPG
        1. Anderson-Dolan, Jaret [Droits de RFA]
        2. Clarke, Brandt
        3. Petersen, Cal
        4. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (LAK)
        5. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (LAK)
        Détails additionnels:
Petersen's alternative is a buyout or being in the AHL, so accepting a trade to Wpg instead is enough to waive the NMC, Clarke is the Athletic's 6th best NHL prospect, Jets have a high need in rebuilding the right side D. I added JAD but its, possible Jet's get even more for taking on the Petersen contract.
        LAK
          for Helly
          5.
          WPG
          1. Blackwood, Mackenzie [Droits de RFA]
          2. Nemec, Simon
          3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (NJD)
          4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (NJD)
          Détails additionnels:
Nemec is the Athletics 5th best prospect, Blackwood has little value but again the Jets will needs a goalie.

The cost and where he goes depends on who are goalie will be.

Carolina would be my choice, but I'd take out the second and add Kochetkov and that would work.

Detroit declines and it’s not close. Not sure if you have seen how the TDL has been going for the Wings right now, but terrible value aside, the team isn’t buying.

On the return, or Chevy having the guts to rebuild?

This is a pre draft deal, after the season they have loads of cap space, I am guessing they'd like to make the playoffs next season. Why not hitch the wagon to arguably one of the to 2 or 3 goalies in the world, whos also from Michigan?

Buffalo and Detroit are in the middle of their rebuilds, why would either of them give up those kind of packages for 1 year of Helly? He's a great goalie but expecting blue chip prospects plus multiple high picks for a single year of a goalie is crazy unless you're a contender that feels he's the missing piece.

Since when would Helly get anywhere near these kinds of returns? If Helly was wanting to come home to Detroit. We'd just sign him as a FA noway doesn't any Goalie get that kind of return. Helly needs a few more vezina and needs to win a few cups and he still won't get these kind of offers.

Let's assume its not one year and they use their 10's of millions of cap space on Helly, and they are very very close to being a contender. Again, we havent seen a blue chip goalie traded since Cory Schneider was dealt, and that was for the 8th overall pick at the draft. And he wasn't close to Helly's level.

I think you're overestimating the value that he will have with only 1 year on his deal and the fact that he'll be looking for a raise with likely 5 years of term on the "wrong side of 30". As a Buffalo fan I wouldn't give up Savoie and two firsts. Assuming the understanding that Comrie is an irrelevant piece in the deal for us.

I would 110% do this deal if hellebuyck extended at a non cap crippling number (need to pay all the other dudes)

This is a wild take. Those two firsts with Helly will be 20th-25th at best.

You imagine if this team had even average goaltending this year? Now imagine it with a freaking vezina tender. The age curve for goalies is way different than skaters.

Yes, we think that Brandt Clarke is one of the top 10 prospects in the League right now, which is precisely why he won't be traded for one season of one of the best goalies in the League.

Now take out Cal Petersen, who for some reason seems to confuse a lot of people into thinking that the rest of the elements in the deal are worth less than they are.

Now you have a first, a second and a bottom-6 roster player for one year of Connor Hellebuyck. Add an A prospect and you're probably there. Mind you, that's the package I thought would be sufficient for Jakob Chychrun, and Ottawa paid less.

This is a pre draft deal, after the season they have loads of cap space, I am guessing they'd like to make the playoffs next season. Why not hitch the wagon to arguably one of the to 2 or 3 goalies in the world, whos also from Michigan?

Because trading two middle 1sts, a decent goalie, and one of the best prospects in hockey is hardly worth a top 20 player?

Before I opened this thread, I was like "Oh it'd be nice to bring Hellebuyck home", but after opening this thread I think I'm going to prevent him from ever stepping foot in this state again.

Well Bert (first line) was moved for the 2024 Boston 1st which hurts playoff chances. Hronek (2nd RD, PP QB2 and top point producing D) was moved for 2023 NYI 1st which makes the team weaker and hurts playoff chances.

Helly doesn't win Detroit more games with those guys gone, and would be in his last year of a 6M contract at 29 years old. So this is a year and a half rental for Detroit? Or is SY re-signing an 8+M extension?

            - Edvinsson is the 3rd best NHL prospect. Top 5-top 10 at worst.
            - Husso has been good as a starter. Maybe you meant to put Ned? Per your comment,
"although Husso has a NMC, the Wings can easily bury him in the minors if he didnt accept this." -That doesnt make much sense.
            - 2- 1st round picks that were just acquired?

After this deadline, your proposal for Detroit's final roster turnover would be:

            Bertuzzi 50% / Hronek / Husso / Edvinsson / Detroit 2023 4th out the door

            in exchange for

            Helly / Vancouver 2023 2nd / Boston 2025 4th coming in

            Thats awful.

But we can bring him home by giving up a future top defensemen, a good goalie, and two possibly B-tiered prospects!

Like I would even struggle to take Vasilevskiy for this.
I would, but I'd struggle to.

            I also just remembered:

Detroit has a top goalie prospect set to be ready right when this team starts to become competitive in 2 years.
