Go ahead and ignore the second part of what I said, where he is a pending UFA with no guarantee that he will stick around. Buffalo is not in a position to go after a rental and use significant assets to do it. Even if they were, I don’t think he’s the right guy.

You're arguing something I'm not.
I'm stating that you don't know what he brings because you only mentioned goals and points.
You're trying to switch that argument to Buffalo isn't in a position to get a rental.
Two arguments here.

You mean the reclamation lines right? Skinner was a reclamation too by that guy's logic lol

Tage Thompson reclamation project. 🤭
Actually Jeff was a reclaimatino project a few years back and it would have cost the Sabres dearly to move his salary off of the team.
But Tage was never paid a significant salary and anyone who watched him play knew he would eventually find his game.
It would be difficult to find a GM who would give up 2 seconds and another young player for a UFA who has 14 pts in 29 games.
I assure you at the end of the 20-21 season no one would give up a third for Tage, much less two seconds and even less for Jeff. If Buffalo wanted Bertuzzi, they could just wait for the off season to sign him, thereby keeping Asplund and the two seconds.
So one can only presume "I think that guy is just a galaxy brain that we mere mortals can't comprehend" @Tjm220 is a bit smarter than those who mock him.

The truth hurts some ears, no sense to waste time discussing matters with people who will not listen.

I made both arguments, you ignored the second part when it makes perfect sense. He’s also been injured for a large part of the season and you have no idea what you’re getting from a guy like that. Considering he’s supposed to be a physical winger if he’s not 100% you’re not really getting what you’re paying for. Especially paying the kind of price being mentioned here does not make any sense for Buffalo.

You did not argue against my point you proved it.
Also, do you know what or how was injured? Cause it certainly wasn't the thing he's known for being "injury prone for"

Columbus is collecting Wolverines, and I think they'd have a great chance at signing him with his former captain Blankenburg in the org as well as Kent Johnson, not to mention Werenski and possibly Adam Fantilli. I wouldn't expect it would be a huge price, but I find him intriguing.

Quoting: Tjm220
To be perfectly honest, I don’t know enough about Columbus‘s prospect pool to be able to pick out a specific player that is considered a similar value that fits a need for Buffalo. I would guess a third round pick wouldn’t be unfair. Portillo is a highly regarded goaltending prospect.

He just got traded to the Kings for a 3rd.

I’m not up on all things Detroit, but I do know he had a problem with being vaccinated, or rather being the only player in the NHL who isn’t. I’m guessing it and other concerns have caused more trouble than he’s worth, or the red wings would have offered him a contract extension by now and not be considering trading him. I expect Buffalo is looking elsewhere if they are trying to add a forward to the current group. Especially if they would be expected to part with considerable assets to bring that player in. I know Vrana has also caused some problems, but I expect someone would be more willing to trade for him.

Him not being vaccinated only prohibits him from entering the U.S. (assuming he loses residency and his USA worker passport).
I think you have this backwards. Done arguing since I feel bad you're writing paragraphs for someone who don't care that much anymore.

I’m sorry, this isn’t Twitter with a 250 character limit. Have I exceeded your attention span? Considering how much time you spent complaining I’m surprised you suddenly don’t care now. It’s a shame you can’t have a conversation with logical points with someone about this.

Yeah bro I have ADHD and you want glaze over the fact that you tried arguing he had less points than a player who's played more games and just make the argument more than it was, but I digress.

Toodles.

The fact he has not been playing does not increase his value. One way or another it doesn’t fit for Buffalo. They should look elsewhere. Let’s leave it at that.

We want Pine Trees, not Aspen.

Lol. Yzerman gave Bertuzzi away. A protected 2024 1st and a 2025 4th for him. My trade doesn’t look that bad now. Right?!

Not to mention, two 2nds vs a guaranteed 1st ('24 or '25) and a 4th is about the same (unless Boston manages to go back to back with an aging core).

Yeah it will be late 20’s you will get and next year in a weak draft. Philly pick will be early 2nd this year in a stacked draft.

? This draft is stacked for it's top 5 being one of the best top 5s of all time; not because it reaches into the 40s.
Also, didn't know '24 was going to be just such a WEAK draft. But ignore what I said prior about my critique being a tree joke.

Your trade is significantly more than what Yazerman received.
There will better players available to choose when a team can use '23 PHI second round pick than even a mid 1st round pick in the '24 draft.
Then a young NHL player and another second is added.
There is no way under heaven Buffalo would trade for a UFA and give up 3 good pieces.

I have a good feeling that Bertuzzi said he wasn’t going to sign long term in Buffalo and KA didn’t want to give anything of that value as a rental
