Idk about all those conditions,
but Sabres might- i repeat, might- be interested in Monahan
But only if he’s cheap
(Something like a 4th round pick)

He’s hurt- AND a rental, so maybe not even that much

Sure, sure. I like that trade for Edmonton, but I do imagine since you are taking Barrie and Puljujarvi, we would have to add more.

1. Montreal accepts
2. Montreal accepts
3 Montreal would be looking for a 2nd with conditions to upgrade to a 1st based on 50% of Sabres playoff games played and making the ECF and downgrades to a 3rd if both conditions aren't met. If only 1 of the conditions are met then the pick remains a 2nd.
4. 2 cap dumps and a 2nd doesn't get Eddy, will cost Puljujarvi + 1st conditional on 50% of Oilers playoff games played downgrades to a 2nd if condition is not met
5. Why would Edmonton not just trade Puljujarvi for a 2nd if the Habs can get that?

The odds of the Sabres wanting to add another center - when they have their top 3 centers of their core already established in Thompson, Cozens and Krebs and a solid 4th line center option in Jost, all of whom are at least 3 or more years younger than Monahan - is slim to none. Monahan's ability on faceoffs - a trait the Sabres could improve on - hasn't been great this year and is actually lower than 2 of the Sabres current centers.

Pass.

Wasn't saying the Sabre's would be the team, I was only saying what Montreal would be looking for in a return.

I commented on a proposed trade sure but I only commented what Montreal would be looking for. I never once said the Sabres would be interested, in fact if you look, every one of my comments were from Montreal's perspective. I never commented from the other teams perspective. I usually defer that to the other teams fans unless it's utterly ridiculous like Monahan for Dahlin.

Just the comment about why Sabres are not looking for a center is off point. Every team look for centers as those players are incredibly versatile compared to wingers.

Always easy to move a center on wing, but wingers aren’t good centermen.

As for Monahan being the player, Sabres take almost no risk given the conditions attached to the trade.. if he plays, the give up low to medium picks depending on the length he plays, if he doesn’t they give up a coke machine refill…

Just because you want to get rid of a player doesn't mean another team will take him. Habs made their bed in signing Monahan - they'll likely have to ride out the remainder of his contract as his "best used before" date has passed.

Well… let’s close this site down… why even bother doing these « What if.. » scenarios….

You’re not giving us any new info at all… we all know about the Monahan situation, but as many sports news have been reporting, there are still talks about him from a few teams ready to take the risk, but not giving a high pick if he can’t play.. since this is a site that give us the ability to try and figure out something, I put him in a few that talked about the Avs and Buffalo that mentioned BUF being « interested » to some level…
