Schmaltz would be a nice target, but I wouldn't want Chevy paying that much.

That's not close to enough for Schmaltz. Easy no from the Yotes

If the jets did trade for Schmaltz I would want them to include Schmit. ARI needs to get to the cap floor for next year and he helps with that. But the jets do need to add more to this package

It is definitely enough for him. AZ wont want to be stuck with paying him 8M in salary when they are not contending.

That's kind of what I'm thinking, but everyone else is saying it's not enough. So, I was wondering what the ask would be.

Schmaltz would be nice, but the cost needs to be reasonable

I would assume more than a 7/8d and a early to mid twenties first for a guy making a reasonable cap hit for 3 years after this

Too steep.. 🤣

Stanley has little to no value, like that of a 4th to 7th round pick value, this likely isn't enough for Schmaltz.

Does Arizona want the Jets junk?

They probably prefer to get paid to reach the cap floor by taking on other teams cap problems, doubt they're taking Chevys mistake off his hands for free.

Okay. I know you tend to undervalue everything the Jets have and overvalue anything from any other team, but I'll take that into consideration.tears of joy

It's not really important here. I wouldn't want the Jets putting up their 23 1st for Schmaltz. His real dollar contract is pretty bad for the next few years which hurts his value.

Stanley is worth more to the Jets than he is in a trade. Could Stanley be replaced by a player selected with a 4th to 7th round pick? Probably not unless you get lucky.

How does that matter to anyone but the owner.. lol

Top 6 players with term at a reasonable cap hit aren't acquired for just a 3rd round pick and C-grade prospect.

Stanley is a detriment on the ice, he could easily be replaced by one of the prospects on the Moose, Capobianco or any other dman snagged off the waiver wire.

Well, he's got a NTC that kicks in next year. Team that with his contract and it could make it hard to move him if need be. I'm also thinking TNSE may not being all that enamoured having to pay a winger $8 mil in real dollars. We also may need the cap space to try and find another 2C this summer. You can't build a team around wingers.

Bottom line, I'd like to have Schmaltz, but I'm on the fence about moving the 1st for him. Not that he isn't worth a 1st, I'm just on the fence about paying it.

It sounds like you're just being overtly pessimistic about another Jets player in Stanley. Kind of like at the beginning of the year when you were telling me that Demko was miles better than Hellebuyck. And look how that turned out.

Schmaltz is a 2C and is insurance against Dubois leaving which seems all but certain now.

I was hopeful for Stanley since so much was invested in him but he just doesn't seem to be progressing.
Demko was playing injured then finally went out of the lineup.
I still think he's better then Hellebuyck, put an injured Bucky in front of Van's defense and see what the results are.

I will say Bucky looks dialed in and WAY better than he has in prior years, he's making big saves that I haven't seen from him before, definitely worthy of the Vezina this year.

You realize Schmaltz isn't a center right? He's an RW. From everything I can gather any time 'Zona has tried Schmaltz at center it has been disastrous. He isn't a 2C replacement in and way.

Your Demko stance kind of demonstrates your bias against Jet players and "the grass is always greener" viewpoint on other team's players. Even though there is no evidence that Demko is better, somehow to you he still is.

For Stanley, that's the whole point. The Jets have invested to much on him to give him away for nothing. It would cost more than a 4th round pick to replace him.
