Description
As a Hawk fan that would have done anything to keep Panarin and Kane together I would highly recommend it for New York. They could've challenged some of the best duos in Hockey history if they would've stayed together. I've had this scenario in my mind for the last week but can't figure out how to make the second retention work so we're gonna have to assume it happens. I saw this trade from one of the rumor sites 3-4 weeks ago and assumed Rangers were waiting for deadline when they have more cap space and it still works even after St Louis trade. Cap friendly says Rangers will have $908,667 cap space at deadline and after these moves they would have $383,667. I would also be willing to retain salary on anyone of our RFAs that would help Rangers have the best shot and retain salary if that's needed. Is Domi @ $1,500,000 or McCabe @ $2,000,000 better than someone on your roster ? If anyone knows how to do the 2nd retention I would be grateful for the info.

Drury says keep dreaming. You weren't getting Kakko in a Kane trade before they got Tarasenko, so zero chance. Kane isn't putting on a blue sweater this year.

It’s not going to be one of their top young players. Probably Kravtsov and a pick. Maybe Jones

Blackhawks have their hands tied behind their back. Trying to trade their Franchise player who is basically only allowing a trade to Broadway, at this point.

Rangers have all the leverage. No way they give up anything like a Kakko or Lafreniere.

If the Hawks want to stand their ground and watch him walk for free after the Season, so be it. But they've already lost Toews as a big trade chip. Hate to think they want to walk away empty handed with both players.

Exactly, it was already reported they won’t even give up a 2023 1st rounder.

It's Kane. They have to give up something. Maybe they squeeze the 2024 1st out of them. Fine. That and Kravtsov would probably be the extent of it, along with the 3rd for double retention.

I agree, NYR would be crazy to give up Laf or Kakko. Both look great and continue to get better. But, I really dont think the hawks are feeling pressure to trade Kane. I think they will try to get him where he wants to go, but if the return is minimal, I think they keep him and play out the rest of the season. Tank be damned, teams still want ticket sales. Anything less than 2nd+ and I'd be shocked if he moves.

The Hawks are currently operating at 83% occupancy through 31 Games Played. 3rd worst in the NHL.

Since I don't really see that # getting any better, as they head into the 2nd Half after the TDL, I'd say ticket sales aren't really going to be anything fantastic anytime soon.

If they get Bedard next year, that could provide a bump. Moving Kane can only help those odds.
