I think Hextall will trade for Barbashev and Sundqvist and then call it a day, just a feeling.

I'm expecting a similar level of trades, but to me, he shouldn't even bother if that's what he's going to do. Boston is a juggernaut, TOR just got real and the Rangers got Tarasenko. If NJ or CAR get Meier or Kane, then moves like that don't do anything significant.

I agree, but if he doesn't do anything he'll get absolutely slaughtered I think... I mean what are they waiting for with Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Carter, Rust, Dumoulin, Petry, Zucker etc, they are old and absolutely have to go for it every year those players still can play at a high level. As an Isles fan, it was incredible to watch Crosby (once again) yesterday, he is always soooooo good against 'us', it's ridiculous lol.

Man, you're preaching to the choir. The questions you're asking has been written on by every single hockey writer. Nobody can figure out why he'd bother keeping the gang together if he wasn't going to arm them.

To me, making a move doesn't save his job. In fact, not going far enough in a trade will cost him his job.

My ONLY hope, and this is a stretch, is that he doesn't like going after rentals. I think he's looking for a hockey move or at the very least, a player they'd immediately extend.

I hear you, I would be so frustrated if I was a Pens fan right now, trade for Meier and extend him, they have the pieces to do it and I think he would extend.

To me that's the first thing they have to do and I agree. Plus, Meier extends the hell out of this window. Get Meier and Sturm from SJ and I think the Pens are set.
