Description
Boston fans, would you make this deal. JT Miller and Luke Schenn for Fabian Lysell and a 1st? Stralman and Smith added to help balance the cap this year. Stillman and Reilly both have one more year on their deals but the difference saves Boston 1.75m next year to help with JTs extension.

Canucks should say yes to get out of Miller's contract, but I think ownership wouldn't let them make this move

Watch, the Bruins try to get too cute at the TDL like this and it ends up hurting them come April.

Bruins are perfectly fine as constructed.

Absolutely not. If you want to get the value right, remove the first and lysell from Boston. Canucks might have to throw in a pick. Don’t want that Miller contract.

From a fit standpoint, a deal like this would mean losing pastrnak, so absolutely not.

Vancouver would never make that trade so don’t have to worry about it.

Might be the best trade their franchise has ever made. Cartwheels in the front office if they pulled off this robbery

Since when did a ppg forward and a top 4 d man for a good prospect and basically a 2nd round pick become robbery?

Few questions:
1. Since when is jt miller a point per game guy? Did he get six points in his last game and hockeydb didn’t update? No one wants that contract.
2. Since when is Luke schenn a top four d?
3. Since when is a first round pick basically a second round pick?

Miller is 5 points behind ppg pace right now, close enough, Schenn has been playing like a top 4 dman the last year and a half and a 2nd rounder that’s likely to be 28-32 is basically a 2nd rounder. It’s pretty easy to understand

Yaaaa you’re taking some things that are very binary, and doing weird stuff.

Point per game is point per game. There’s no gray area there. Do you average at least one point per game played? Congrats, point per game player. If you don’t, you’re not a point per game player

Another thing that’s very binary - draft choices. Is a pick in the first round? Yes. Cool, it’s a first rounder.

A first round pick is a first round pick. A guy that doesn’t have a point per game isn’t a point per game player.

Pretty easy to understand.

Over the last 4 years miller is a ppg player, regardless of the fact that he’s slightly under this year he jumps into any team in the leagues top 6 instantly no questions asked. You’re also crazy if you think pick 30 and pick 5 have the same value because they’re as you say “1st round picks”

Notice i never said that picks 30 and 5 have the same value. I didn’t come close to saying that. I said a first round pick isn’t a second round pick.

Where in the bruins top six would he fit. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but the bruins top six has been pretty good. He’s not taking a center spot. He’s not taking a right wing spot. Zacha isn’t getting pushed to the fourth line. He just doesn’t fit, and no one wants that contract.

You keep saying “ a 1st is a 1st” implying they all have the same value and you can’t be serious saying you’d rather have zacha in your top 6 over miller…

That wasn’t what i was implying. I never said anything of the sort. You said a first round pick was basically a second round pick. I just said it was a first round pick….because it’s a first round pick.

Yes, I am serious that i would rather Zacha (or Hall for that matter) in the top six over Miller for three primary reasons - first, I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but it’s kinda been working well. Second, Zacha is as good if not better at center - providing some injury insurance. From what I’ve seen of Miller, he just doesn’t resemble the same player when he’s a pivot. Needs to be a winger. Lastly, and most importantly, Zacha isn’t signed until he’s 37. Miller is.

I know pretty much everything is working for boston this year but miller at 37 will still be a better player than zacha will ever be

Oh? How do you know? What color is your crystal ball? Zacha has been kinda tearing it up since they found the right spot for him. 16 points in his last 20 games, and playing like a guy that will be hovering around a point per game.

Meanwhile, do you have any idea how commonplace it is for an NHL forward to start declining around the age of 30? It’s the rule, not the exception. Miller turns 30 in a month, no? And Miller definitely looks a whole lot worse than last year, right?

We’ve got examples of guys that play at his level at 28-29, and are washed out of the league by 32. No one wants that contract.
