I get you're point, but you're really digging to get that first round pick out of Henrique. Horvat, Tarasenko, Meier get first round picks, not Adam Henrique. Plain and simple.
You're right, the list if wingers available in free agency next year isn't exactly "sexy" but it's not terrible. The Ducks could easily find someone for that top-six role.
Pens have Puustinen who has been playing both wings in the AHL recently. He could be a nice add for the Ducks in their middle-six. There is just a log jam in Pittsburgh with the top-six pretty much locked up for the rest of Sid's career plus a terrible contract given to Kapanen. Puustinen isn't a bottom-six player, thus no room for him here.
Going to have to disagree with you there, the list of LW available next year is pretty slim. The top five available are, in order, Bunting, Zucker, Tatar, Johanssen, and Kerfoot, and pretty much all of those guys are middle six/second line upside guys, Bunting being the notable exception, but I also attribute much of his success to playing on one of the top lines in hockey and being a good complimentary player, but not a 1st line talent by himself.
If we hang onto Henrique until next year, we can get a 24 2nd and a good prospect for him at the TDL with retention, which if of more interest to us than the offer you have here, and we have the added benefit of having Henrique for another season. His cap hit is not a problem for us, so there is no benefit to moving him off our books (may even be hurting us depending on how the TDL pans out). What incentive can you give us to move him now instead of holding onto him until next TDL?
