EK to the oil

Description
This is would be the playoff lineup.

Lots of talk about oilers being very interested in EK, going to be costly though, is this value too much? Not enough?... gavrikov would just solidify them for a strong playoff push, and Nyquist would allow cap flexibility with the LTIR and add to the playoff lineup. Robinson is the type of player any team would want for playoffs.

So we take 2 cap dumps and don’t get a first…. Nicest way possible this trade sucks for cbj.

Lol, Now I knew I'd see this response from my fellow Cannon balls, but Reid Schaefer....he's the 1st. He's one of the few players I'd be happy to get instead of a late 1st.

Noah Philp isn't a slouch either, plus a 2nd.

Possible cheap re-sign project in JP, maybe the lack of spot light could be good for him with the jackets.

Schaefer definitely has late 1st round value. As good this draft will be at about 22 picks in, its typical of most years.

Habs would easily take that offer for Edmundson at 50% rentention.

I’m just in a mood and going on a tear.
I don’t doubt their status but having the pick is better for us as it fits our timeline better and allows us to pick who we want. It’s not a substitute plus we take on two players we don’t need. I love JP. Like really want him as a jacket. But don’t see us taking him and warren for some B prospects in place of giving up our only big trade chip.

A first and third for gavy. No cap dumps. Dumps you add. Definitely not 2. We have wingers and need some young quality.
Take it or pass.

Glad you thought of us and our replies

Just to add to my statement.

JP might get waived according to rumor.
WF is a clear dump.
Both together would take a ton to move.
We give up too much and gain too little in this trade

C'mon man, the money isn't even close to working. No sense in people judging the trades when the money doesn't work. The whole point is to propose plausible trade scenarios.

How doesn't the money work? The cap here works for the oilers

Or are you just saying the retention on EK is too much?, It's easily the biggest hurtle for a EK trade with basically ANY team...the only way a contending team could aquire him is if there's huge retention. I've read 3-4mil needing to be held for oilers to aquire him, so I went with that..

Then they're going to be stuck with EK until he retires...which isn't a terrible thing but he's not really on this teams timeline if they're rebuilding now.

And I think it's 4 years x 4mil of retention no?

You're almost 5 million over the cap.

JP will get waived forsure, but like you I think he's still got something to him. I'd like to see him succeed and it'd be cool if it was with the jackets.

WF is absolutely a cap dump, but he is an nhler, just not worth his aav. Not the worst thing to have him in the bottoms 6 for a season.

I see why your saying it's just not enough and maybe it isn't enough. Maybe take out Robinson and WF , does that level it out Abit?
We jacket fans know what jarmo can do with picks so I get why you'd prefer that. But if the oilers 1st is anywhere in the 20th-32nd picks, and if Reid Schaefer (19yrs old, 6'3, 220lbs, offensive power forward) was in this years draft he would be a steal at those picks.

2nd + Schaefer + Philp + Puljujarvi for gavrikov + Nyquist

Maybe the 2nd has ability to turn into a 1st if X level of playoffs is met or gavrikov extends? Or it's just a 1st instead...but then they aren't getting EK

Nyquist is on LTIR for rest of the season for 5.5mil, which allows them to be that much over the cap and still be compliant. Then playoffs start and cap doesn't exist and he will be healthy and ready to play for 1st round of playoffs.

This is the playoff lineup. Read the top of post*
