You’ve made the defence considerably worse. Brodie is far far far better than Lybushkin, thet didn’t work last year. He played extremely limited minutes in the playoffs and wasn’t good when the puck was on his stick

You can get Puljujarvi for a 3rd as well without any additional prospects being paid. He’s not a very useful player and I’d probably rather have Engvall over him at this point

Anderson is a 3rd liner at best, not paying all that for him, no thanks. We're "paying for retention" so that he makes close to what he actually deserves. If we give that package for tyler myers (who'd be our 7th or even 8th best D) I would die. Pulju not worth all that. And Brodie is significantly better than Lyubushkin

Lyubushkin fills the needs for Buffalo better than Brodie does.
Considering TJ's is four years older and his salary is nearly double of Illia, TJ may be more valuable (but this year that is somewhat debatable) one for one would help the Leafs cap problems.
Buffalo would certainly pass on this trade.

lol wild takes. Lybushkin is playing sheltered minuted in Buffalo still averaging 14 minutes a game. are you using defensive zone start % as a reason hes better? The underlying numbers (advanced stats - which im not huge into admittedly) favour Brodie almost entirely across the board as far as I can see.

Yes Brodie is LH but he plays the right side, so not sure that it really matters his handedness relative to the teams needs.
