That's a big package. I would take that even though Bailey at his cap hit sucks.

Not so sure he was to Vancouver. He’s at least young enough and has a skill set. Can the same be said about Bailey?

Bo Horvat is having an infinitely better season and is a lot younger than tarasenko. Bailey and beau have the same amount of points and make similar money. It doesn't bridge the gap

I don’t think you answered the question. And 4m vs 5.5 is a pretty big difference it’s almost 150%.

I’m not trying to argue with you that this deal is similar to what Tarasenko would most likely receive.

But I don’t think many GMs would buy and extend off of one good season where the player is shooting 7% higher than their career average based on perceived value of the player on that one season. If Horvat were truly a guy who you’d expect to be a little over a PPG player he would’ve returned a lot more. But regardless to arguments points the past does matter for better or got worse.

I see that you won’t accept the fact that a 31 year old Tarasenko projected to score 18 goals and 50 points this season isn’t gonna return a 1st, a former first in Holmström who’s young and a mainstay in the lineup and is very good defensively so far. Bolduc who’s a former 2nd-rounder and is having a great season and has looked good with the Isles the last couple of games AND a 2nd rounder as well. Yeah Josh Bailey is a cap dump, BUT he’s got one more year at $5M but $3.5M in actual cash, it won’t cost multiple 1st rounders to move him lol. This is a way better package than Canucks got for their captain who’s a C, 27 years old with all the intangibles in the world with 31 goals and 23 assist, 54 pts in 49 games so far lol. Beauvillier definitely was a cap dump.

And Isles don’t need retention, they’ll have $9M in deadline cap space.

Love that you have Pánik as s scratch also, he currently plays for Lausanne in the NL.

Then why would Tarasenko return an infinitely higher package?
