why not? It could increase the return. We probably won't be competitive next year so Having Bailey on a 1 year deal is fine. Especially if he plays well we can flip him at next years deadline. I wouldn't do this deal but it is not far off. I would do Bailey, Samuel Bolduc, 2024 1st and, 2023 2nd

This offer is light even before you factor in taking Bailey's hit for next season. And the why not is because that 5M can be put to far better use.

Well, setting aside that the D is certainly not set in stone after this season, it could certainly be used on something that isn't an overpriced rental. The Blues are going to have to walk a cap tightrope as is, no need to take on so much ballast.
