Let the tear down begin......

Let the hate begin!
Transactions
1.
VAN
  1. Heimosalmi, Aleksi
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (CAR)
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (PHI)
Détails additionnels:
Heimosalmi is a solid defensive prospect, probably a year or two away. Possesses size and a good two way game. Although Morrow would be nice, I don't feel Boeser gets him..... and right now the Canucks are flush with young forwards. Blue line needs help, and Heimosalmi has the game.to be effective at the NHL level.

Canucks get a pair of 2nds, to both equalize the trade and as compensation for retention.
Building from the ground up.
CAR
  1. Boeser, Brock (1 650 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Canes get a 60 point top 6 winger, who maybe has a higher ceiling, but that isn't being realized in Vancouver. With Patches out for the season, it would appear the Canes are in the market to fill his void, or rather potential since he only played a handful of games.

Further, since Dundon is notoriously frugal, Canucks retain portion of this salary to grease the wheel.
2.
VAN
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (CGY)
Détails additionnels:
OK.... Calgary needs offensive help for sure, but..... Tanev is on the shelf again (as it sits right now), leaving a rather heavy work load for the top 4 defenders.

Stone has been very good in protected ice time, and Mackey has been serviceable.

Point here is Schenn is a clear upgrade on both, and Sutter can play him significantly more. Further, he is cheap enough the Flames can still get that offensive help to male a push.
CGY
  1. Schenn, Luke
Détails additionnels:
Luke has been great for the Canucks, but, it just males sense to move him.

Is he worth a mid 2nd rounder? I have to say yes he is. But, since moving him is something the Canucks should be doing, will settle for a 3rd. (In Calgary's case, a 2024).
3.
VAN
  1. Attard, Ronnie
  2. van Riemsdyk, James (3 500 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Part of a 3 way trade.

Rangers will get JVR at a $1.75 million cap hit. They should be looking for a top 6 option, and this leaves them space to possibly fill out the bottom pairing LD spot.

Attard is the guy the Canucks keep here. Has had a cup of coffee in the NHL and didn't necessarily look out of place. Has the size and ability to step in and play bottom pairing minutes.
PHI
  1. Garland, Conor
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2023 (VAN)
Détails additionnels:
The Flyers get a player who in young enough, has a bit of term, plays about the minutes JVR does and comes close to matching his offensive totals (I see this season as a bit of an outlier). Point is Garland can play, but Vancouver has been a balck hole that has pretty much sucked everyone in.

I don't see the Flyers having the depth organizationally at forward right now, and for a team needing a shake up itself, this might male some sense for them. Bluntly, a 26 year old Garland for the Flyers should male more sense right now than a UFA siging.

Canucks also move a 3rd here. Attard has game, and Garland will be seen as a risk and/or a cap dump on some level (which he is not imo). Fresh start for Garland.
4.
VAN
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (NYR)
Détails additionnels:
Finishing the 3 way deal.

Rangers get a cheap JVR

Flyers end up with Garland and a 3rd

Canucks Attard and a 2nd
NYR
  1. van Riemsdyk, James (1 750 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Rangers get their top forward for a 2nd.

Google search it lol. A small town in SW Ontario. About 30 something years ago, a massive tire fire took place there. Burned for months.

Canes pass. Boeser isnt likely a fit to our system. We are unlikely to trade him for 3 valuable assets.

Not there anymore lol. Growing up, Ancaster was quite a separate entity from Hamilton. Like the 403 from Brantford thru to Hamilton didn't exist lol. Now it's urban jungle

I aged myself lol

Haha yeah I guess it all amalgamated in the early 90s but ancaster still feels very much like its own town up on the mountain

Interesting.

Could be right there, but still I am thinking a legit top 6 forward with term for $5 million a year would be up Dundon's alley.

At the very least, I think I am correct in thinking the Canes will be seeking a top 6-9 option in lieu of Patches.

Tanev will probably be healthy after the break, fyi. They said that when he was placed on IR. I would say Calgary is interested in Schenn mostly because of the chance Tanev does go down again, it also sounds like Kylington won't be coming back this year if we are shopping for a defenseman.

Stone has been fine as you said, but Mackey has really been underwhelming, to the point where Denis Gilbert is definitely preferred (I would love for Meloche to get a chance but we kinda cant be in "tryout mode" right now).

Due to how cheap Schenn is and a division rival i feel like he ends up somewhere else though and Calgary ends up with like Braun or Gudas

Boeser isn’t a fit stylistically. He doesn’t forecheck a lot or care alot for defense. Unless we get him for under value, then i don’t see a deal being made.

Already got Jarvis and Teravainen underperforming in the top 6, doubt they want to add another one in Boeser

With Vancouver in the spot they are in, I don't think the division rivalry will matter much. Further, it is pretty unlikely Schenn would be resigned in Calgary - which I think you would agree with.

I think Schenn can fetch a 2nd, but as I said Inwould settle.for a 3rd. Plays enough minutes against reasonably tough competition to justify it.

Think it would totally shore up the blueline in Calgary..... playing Stone on his offisde isn't ideal, but he has been too effective to pull out of the lineup. Mackey is the casualty here.

OK.

And asking for a pair of 2nd's (one of them for retention) and a prospect D who is a year or two out is rich in your opinion?

Defintely not worth Morrow. Agreed.

Drury in this case I think is a tough ask as well.

I would say Heimosalmi and a 2nd maybe is the more on the more underwhelming side of things for Canucks fans. Kind of see Morrow and Honka ahead of him......

You can correct me if I am wrong.

I think the over-riding theme here is that the Canes would not be interested in Boeser, and I agree. Appreciate everyone trying to solve our top-9 performance 'issues' with players you would like to discard, but remember that the trade has to be genuinely mutual. Lots of GM's will be talking at All-Star weekend so we'll soon find out where that mutual interest lies.

Flyers won’t do that, Garland isn’t doing well enough to justify trading for a player outside their timeline and give up one of thejr best defensive prospects, they aren’t in a position to trade prospects at all
