Description
Arizona trade is extra retention on Toews.

Just a crazy amount of depth while hanging onto their 1st rounder.

You are able to keep Reilly for the playoff run who can slot in a LHD spot if there's an injury or if they'd like to go a more agile route rather than Forbs. Similar deal for Schenn on the right.

I think being able to keep Smith is nice as well. He's starting to find his game as of late and is a very well liked piece in that locker room. Toews can play anywhere in the lineup in a multitude of different roles, injury or not.

Trade values may be a few mid round picks off but nothing egrigious imo

There is so reason why the bruins should be holding on to there first rounder this year, if there has ever been a year for any team to go all in it would be this one

Too much for Toews especially with his clause and the team isn't cap compliant.

You can't just put players on LTIR without any injury designation. If the Bruins look to acquire Toews, they would need to move Craig Smith or Reilly as cap dumps. Also, Vancouver would likely need a tad more.

I agree, especially with it being in the late 20s/ 30s

Can't see toews waiving his nmc to play fourth line even if it is his best chance at a cup. He's also playing for his next contract and playing really well in a top 6 role. Playing 4th line minutes with foligno and Smith is gonna hurt his value

Here's the problem, why would a bad ARZ team want to help CHI get worse? They're both trying to get #1OA so it's going to take more than a 4th round pick for ARZ to do Boston & Chicago a favor.

Vancouver has enough 6-7 Dmen already.
I don’t see a trade happening with Boston personally. They don’t have a 2nd in this years draft and their 3rd is likely to be one of the three lowest in the round. Unless they want to pony up their 1st (which I don’t see as being likely) I doubt they will have the most attractive offer.

Yea I know about the LTIR. Originally placed them there for the purpose of showcasing the extra depth and the cap ramifications just slipped my mind

Fair point, although I don't think Toews is too worried about how much he's going to make his next contract, he's made over $100m. He's also won so suppose it's just what he'd prefer.

Nah I disagree. It should only make sense to move the 1st if they do, otherwise I would rather see them keep it since the draft will be deep and their prospect pool is pretty shallow. I don't want to see them move it for the sake of moving it because they are "all in", whatever that means.

Obviously it has to make sense to trade their first I’m not saying just give it away. Just the marginal value of a first round pick that’s gonna help you out 3 years down the line doesn’t come close to a guy who could put your top 6 or top 4 over the top. That’s much more value to the bruins
