Larkin takes 8 x $8,500,000 to stay in Detroit.

He'd want Zach Werenski money to sign with Columbus. No way Larkin signs in Columbus for that figure when he wants the Mat Barzal deal.

And Chychrun and Ekholm get far better offers than that. If that's all it took to get Chychrun he'd already be gone by now.

Ekholm gets more but I think that’s pretty close for chychrun. Also Larkin needs to be offered that by Detroit first. I think larkin gets 9 AAV from Stevie eventually and takes it

A 1st needs to be in the deal for Nash to consider moving a player like Ekholm.

You do realize that the Jackets 2nd round pick has a good chance of being #33 overall right? If they acquire a late first at the TDL then that could replace the CBJ 2nd.

    Yeah.. still doesn’t matter.

Ekholm is 32, he doesn’t even fit the plans of the CBJ rebuild. Wouldn’t make sense for them to move their first for him, because that’s what Poile would part with if it had to trade Ekholm.

It may not be enough, but it is definitely close. He's 32, and while still solid, he's only slowing down. With three years left at a $6.25m cap hit, NSH would be wise to get what they can for him now.

Not everyone has to be in their mid-20s to fit the CBJ plan. They need some veterans too with Nyquist (FA) and Voracek (LTIR) most likely gone next year. CBJ also need a steady vet or two on the blueline with the imminent departure of Gavirkov. Ekholm would be a good bridge to have until Mateychuck or Svozil are ready to step in.

I like the moves. I'm sure Jarmo is looking at how he can flip some young guys this summer in order to bring a more experienced vet or two in on the blue line.

Ekholm and Chychrun are good targets, I also think McDonaugh, Dunn, Theodore, Ferraro and Lidell could all maybe be had in the summer. Vlasic or OEL could be possible options with retention.

I won't say you're wrong, some vet options would be good for CBJ seeing as they have a metric ton of young talent who'll need steady leaders.

Still, would you be willing to give up a 1st+ for Ekholm? He would have a pretty high asking price considering he logs 21+ minutes a night and is put against the toughest matchups while still scoring 30-40pts a season.
Can't see Poile taking any less than that.

No, I wouldn’t part with a 1st for him at this point in his career and with his cap hit, but a package like the OP with that high 2nd I would consider. I’d rather keep Peeke though too, since he eats pucks and takes bodies.

It would take a 1st in the package minimum for Poile to consider flipping Ekky.

Maybe. I think it would depend on the rest of the package. If he likes a player like Boqvist or Ceulemans, I think they could be offered in lieu of a 1st.
