Description
This team is made by a Wings fan, so I don't know exactly how good every single depth player is. But here are some moves I think the Hurricanes should consider.

-Idk if Yzerman is ready to give up on Zadina yet, but Zadina on that 3rd line could be a something. Cheap contract as well.
-O'Reilly replaces Staal in the lineup. Good placeholder guy till Kotkaniemi is ready.
-Varlamov is a good consistent goalie. He could be a great mentor for Kochetkov as well.
-Määttä plays a simple game and could be a perfect guy on that 3rd pair. Another Finnish guy to the team.
-Maybe Johnsson could rebuild his career in Carolina. Glendening is just a depth guy who is really versatile.

There's still some cap space left, but expensive contract extensions are coming soon: Jarvis and Necas.

Nope. Zadina is an NHLer. Regardless of him not reaching his potential, he is good enough to be an every day NHLer. A low second round pick has like a 10 percent chance of playing 200 games in tbe NHL.

If Zadina were a 4th round pick, there'd be nobody saying to trade him.

Zadina right now is worthless, We'd be lucky to get a 5th round pick for him right now. if you can get a 2nd you definitely make that deal any day of the year.

Do you know what most consider a good NHL career? 100 games

Exactly. The odds of a second round pick playing more than 99 games is 17 percent.

Basically, with that 2nd Detroit can HOPE they get a Zadina. Getting anything better is basically a lottery ticket. Likely being a late 2nd, that lottery ticket has some bad odds.

If Zadina was a 4th round pick and playing like he is we'd take a 2nd rounder for him in 2 seconds. A guy whom is a regular nhl that you can play in the bottom 6 is not a hard thing to get. You can buy 20 of those guys in free agency every year.

Yup, and you end up with Adam Erne, Darren Helm, Luke Glendening.... I'd rather keep a guy with a higher pedigree and hope he pans out. I get the feeling it is going to be like Nichuskin who showed promise, couldn't put it together, then finally did it much later in his career.

If you think he's going to be better than he's been the last 4 seasons, be a productive middle 6 winger then I get saying no if you think this is what he is you make that deal everyday.

He should be middle 6 next year. He, like Veleno, show flashes elite skill, and then follow it up with a questionable error in judgment. Consistency is the key, and is tbe hardest thing for a lot of players.
