You forget 2 very key things here

1. Tommy Fitz has already alluded to going hard for Timo Meier, when Tommy Fitz says hes going to do something goddammit it gets done.
2.Damon Severson is a Free Agent after this season, the whole reason we traded for Marino was to replace him, the Devils dont see Sevo as a key piece after this year so we are either going to trade him at the draft or just let him walk (highly unlikely as someone somewhere would cough up a 24 pick or a prospect to get his signing rights)

Yeah Meier make more sense because he will probably cost Holtz and a 1st instead of a roster player helping the team now
