NJD
  1. Mann, Strauss
  2. Meier, Timo
Détails additionnels:
Johnsson to make the deal work.
Even though the Sharks are likely to move Bonino and Reimer this TDL also I included and ECHL goalie here to manage their contract limit.
With one retention slot already burnt in the Burns trade, I think the Sharks would prefer to take cap back instead of wasting another on this deal.

Would Ekholm be available for something like this?

While we're discussing Nashville, Jeannot seems to be having a rather disappointing season, would he also be made available?

Détails additionnels:
Could be any team really, but during my time here on CF it's been made clear to me that Wood is like catnip to Leafs fans.

While I think the Leafs could use another forward, this Wood deal could be made with any team interested in additional depth, speed and grit.

    Détails additionnels:
Gotta get under the cap, let's get a Jersey backup to facilitate that.

    1. Blackwood, Mackenzie
    2. Choix de 4e ronde en 2024 (NJD)
    Détails additionnels:
Blackwood is quietly putting together a decent season, way outperforming Gibson in terms of GSAx.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him becoming their new starter, unless Dostal has anything to say about it.

On one hand it feels a little bit like a lowball for Ekholm, but Poile did trade Ellis away for next to nothing...
    Thoughts about the Jeannot deal?

When I started posting on CF there was a ridiculous amount of Leafs AGMs giving up big returns for Wood.
I guess it have stuck with me since that time.
I think the Leafs could use another forward but Wood is likely not the type they'd be looking for.

If he is moving Ekholm to clear cap space, which it appears he would be doing to extend Fabbro, Carrier, etc...he probably tries to send him out of conference, and applies a discount.

I like the idea as alternative to Graves extension.

Yep, that's the biggest selling point for me.
Shouldn't be too difficult to move Ekholm out in 2024 or 2025 either when guys like Vilén, Mukhammadulin and Casey inevitably develop past him.

Ideally we could get Graves to sign short term deal (2-3 years). Or acquire LD with 2 years left...or sign one for 2-years.
Wouldn't have to rush young dmen

If it could be perfectly timed, we only have to introduce one rookie at a time...

    2022-23 - Bahl, Okhotiuk
2023-24 - Hughes (straight to NHL from NCAA)
2024-25 - Nemec (after two slide years)
2025-26 - Mukhamadullin (after two full AHL seasons)
2026-27 - Casey (after 3 NCAA seasons, 1 AHL season)

I agree with your arithmetic, but I heavily doubt that Graves would be interested in signing a 2-3 year deal.
Graves's level of play this season could land him a very solid contract on the open market.

People should become more aware of the vast number of trolls who pose as leaf fans to troll leaf fans. Those guys flood this site with dumb trades all the time. Also the "hits above all else" crowd and the "grass is always greener" crowd see anyone with any level of hits from every other team as an upgrade.

Ellis was starting to become injured prone and Poile did the right thing on dumping him at the right time. Even though Poile shouldn’t of signed him for 8 year to begin with. But Ellis type defenseman are easier to find than Ekholm type defenseman. And Ekholm hasn’t shown any type of downfall and has been challenged with carrying more of a defensive load while pair with young inexperienced defenseman for years. Ekholms offensive play always gets overshadowed because he’s carrying his line mate.
As for jeannot not gonna sell him at his low. He had 24 goals last year and seem to be doing all the right things this year but has hit a Sophomore slump

Right? LOL, I wanted Miles Wood for last years playoff run as he was coming off of the hip surgery. Think he could play the same role as Coleman or Goodrow did in Tampa

Jokes aside, I think that's a very optimistic expectation of what Wood could bring at this point in time.
Maybe he could regain his previous levels of play with a change of scenery, but for the purposes of this AGM Wood's contract is the first one I'd move to make it all work.

Blackwood is not going to replace Gibson as the starter in Anaheim, you put him behind our defense and he will flounder, not to mention his health concerns being exasperated behind a team that lets him see 40+ shots against per night.

Watch the replays of Arizona at Anaheim last night (Jan 28) and you'll see Gibson still has it, and before you point out "It's Arizona, he should win" he also held down the fort for the win against Colorado a couple nights before too, looked stellar then as well.
