Neither Timmins nor Holl is waivers exempt. I guarantee you Timmins doesn't get past Anaheim. How do you expect to make them disappear?

It was reported (Friedman I think) Leafs weren't spending a 1st for McCabe. Has that changed?

i thought it was ideally Toronto wouldn't want to give up a 1st. but if a 1st is what they have to give for the retention they might do it. but to be honest i don't think anyone really knows what dubas is doing.

its possible murray ends up on LTIR and with that they could keep them all up. that or a kerfoot trade but i never added it because not sure what team would take on kerfoots 3.5 million $ contract

Detroit accepts.

GMs aren't taking players on LTIR for the year. Robertson isn't getting moved at the trade deadline.

What is this?! A Toronto ACGM that is fair value wise?!

Kudos to you!

In all honesty, you could probably lower a few of those picks going back too. Detroit for example, would likely take a 4th in that Erne deal.

Well then, if the Hawks are willing to retain, and McCabe will waive for Toronto, I'd say the Hawks probably accept. The fact that the 2023 1st is in this deal makes it ok to take the chance that Robertson comes back at the same level after his surgery. His injury history is a big red flag for me.

I think they could send Holmberg down as he is waiver exempt. Simmonds could be sent down, no one would claim him. Benn could also be sent down as I doubt anyone claims him and if so oh well. Only need to move two of those guys I believe if they have that ltir space in the cap.

I wouldn't accept this due to the retention.

With only two retention slots available, I would want to use them on trades that will bring a better return, like Bert, Määttä, Walman, Sunny.

Bert, sure, the retention on Sunny and Maata is a negligible difference from Erne and Walman makes zero sense to retain on as he only makes 1m anyways and the prorated amount is darn near nothing.

The dollar amount is irrelevant. It's the difference in return that is important.

Määttä will get a higher return than Erne will and a retention on him (if needed) will therefore be a much wiser decision. The same goes for Sundqvist. Raising the return on Erne from a 5th to a 3rd isn't worth nearly as much as it would be to raise Määttä from a 3rd to a 2nd.

If those deals are even there, sure. The point I'm making, is that the retention difference is negligible, so it's all relative to what deals are even available in the first place. For the sake of this ACGM, the return is fair and need/fit for retention makes sense.

Some analysts think PHI can get a 1st for JVR with retained salary. No idea if that’s actually true but assuming it’s not, I’ll take a 2nd and 3rd for an expiring contract.
