Still cap space to take on a cap dump or two at the TDL for picks. I just ballparked the trades.

Sabres trade is an interesting idea
I think you’re right that we wouldn’t move Krebs for Foligno,
as Krebs was a “must have” piece in the Eichel trade

I could see us interested in bringing back Foligno,
that does make some sense
I also don’t know that we’d move Mitts for him though
While Mittelstadt hasn’t reached his top10 draft pick potential,
he has also (finally) stayed healthy this season & is playing well putting up good numbers playing on the 3rd line
I think the Sabres are happy with his development this season,
even if a bunch of our fans still are butthurt that he hasn’t become a star

Like i said though, interesting idea that might not be too far off

Sabres would take that and run, but it’s highly unlikely Minnesota does.

The Sabres would be hesitant to move Mittelstadt right now until the off-season because he has tremendous chemistry with Olafsson and Jost and that line is working right now

Foligno will be 32 at the start of next season,
with only 1 year left on his contract

While i won’t say we wouldn’t be interested at all in him,
I do feel confident we wouldn’t trade Mitts for that
Doesn’t make sense for the long term goals

Maybe we’d send a 3rd & one of our “B” prospects?
(just guessing on this last part)

From a fan's perspective, it's a no-brainer, slam-dunk proposition. Foligno would bring a lot more size and physical play to the forward group and, with Jost and Olofsson, really make the 3rd line solid compared to the finesse, playmaking traits Mittelstadt offers.

However, from the Sabres' perspective based on all of their praise of Mittelstadt as well as Foligno's stated love for playing in Minnesota, it's a non-starter. I can't see Adams giving up on Mittelstadt nor Guerin giving up on Foligno.

Correction: Sabres FANS would take that and run but it's highly unlikely SABRES MANAGEMENT would.

While i do realize it’s all fans on here,
I care more about discussing what’s realistically likely as opposed to what “the fans want”

Same here - it's easy and fun to propose anything, regardless of reality, but what's the point? To each their own but the website is more fun to apply creative thinking to realistic situations and theorize what could happen (instead of what should happen) IMO.

Yeah, if i wanna get nutty then I’ll just turn in the video game & start making trades for whoever i fancy 🤣🤣

But for the sake of discussion on here,
(and discussion is the point imo),
keeping things as realistic as possible is what makes the most sense

How about Hartman for Krebs and a 2024 2nd?
