Don't even care about the value (I think it's light for the Rangers tbh) - you'll never see the Rangers & Islanders trade stars like this because the NY media market will jump all over whoever winds up being the "loser" of the trade. James Dolan particularly is incredibly sensitive to that kind of tabloid BS so I can't see a world where he would even okay a trade of Panarin to the Isles.
Put it this way: this is the 50th season that the Islanders have been in existence. In those 50 years, there have been a grand total of two (2) trades between the Rangers and Islanders: in the Isles' first season, way back in 1972, the Rangers traded 40-year-old C Ron Stewart to the Isles for cash considerations; then, the two teams waited til 2010 when the Isles traded Jyri Niemi to the Rangers for a 6th round pick - and neither Niemi nor the player that the Isles eventually picked with the assets they received (Brenden Kichton) appeared in the NHL. Basically a long way of saying that the two teams are incredibly unlikely to line up on a trade together.
