I don't think that is true anymore. Gomez went to the Rangers, Holik went to the Rangers....both were welcomed back...Parise only went to a team to be around his family.

Parise leaving wasn’t that bad

Anyone who went through 2012 would hate it.

Holik and Gomez were not face-off-the-franchise guys. And both were paid funny money, so we didn’t mind at time. And it was also reaffirmation of Rangers inferiority complex with 1990s 2000s Devils. (They tried to poach Elias and others too).

But losing them would be like losing McLeod or Mercer today…to $9 million and $10 million deals, respectively. It was like….ah, okay.

Losing Parise at the time would be like losing Hughes or Hischier today.
