Highly unlikely the Avs give up their '23 1st for an injured Monahan.

If Colorado is interested like the insiders are saying then it's because Monohan is coming cheaper then other rentals at this deadline.

They don't have the assets for Horvat, Meier or even ROR so it will be a B prospect and a pick for Monohan

I don’t think it’s farfetched to expect a 1st if monahan comes back and plays well and is healthy. That is still significantly cheaper than Horvat and Meier will cost and likely cheaper than ROR also. It’ll be interesting to watch how it develops

He needs to come back and play to even entertain a 1st but he was at that level before this injury, just how it goes from here.

they are saying a pick and a prospect for ROR, not even a 1st rounder for ROR, the pick is depending on the prospect. so saying Monahan is worth a 2023 1st and will be cheaper than ROR does not align with anything that has been reported

and take it with a grain of salt, bc the same Lebrun segment mentions avs cap situation and cant afford ROR or Horvat, so if they cant afford 7m in ROR or 5m in Horvat (they would be retained) how exactly are they affording 6.3m in Monahan, also retained.

What hes saying in the first half doesnt align with what hes saying In the second, it sounds like pure speculation IMO

thank you a rationale response and analysis for all this Monahan chatter. If avs fans say that we are labelled trolls or Habs haters.

It’s totally far fetched. Less than a year ago he was a 100% cap dump, since then he has played 25 games missed 24, and even if he comes back and scores at the same rate before he was hurt he is going to have less than 40pts. What team in the league is giving up a 1st rd pick for a guy like that? I’ll answer it for you nobody.

If he picks up his pace pre-injury which was 56 pts, somebody will give up a 1st for him, I’ll be back on March 3 to say I told you so

cherry picking a hand full of games doesnt set a players value, players go on 20 game heaters and fall back to earth all the time. He was awful in Calgary for multiple years, he had a bolt of energy to start the season, then had a 10 game stretch of something like 3 points, then picked up some more points before getting hurt.

Monahan went from no value to some value, that is a win for montreal, let's stop pretending like hes now a 2C bc he picked up a few early season points. His same issues remain, consistency, staying healthy, his poor skating, and lack lustre defence. Those did not go away over night

There’s also his cap hit. Have to believe he would’ve had value at 50% in the offseason… and now.

He didnt have any value in the offseason, he was on the door steps of not even being an NHLer anymore. Thats how bad he was in calgary bc of his injuries. And he is still having inury issues 20+ games into his montreal career.

He shown he can still play beyond a 4th line role. There was no value in a 50% retained 3.1m unhealthy 4th liner last offseason.

His value now is more than nothing, take that as a win, this 2023 1st round picks for him...also there has been newhooks, girards, 1st + avs top proscpts for him on this site. Reasonable and realistic vs fantasy land thats all 31 other fan bases are asking

Ah I love guys who just ignore missed games and pace. 56 pts was for the pace of 82 games based on the first 25 games, he has since missed 24 games. There is exactly 12 games left before the trade deadline, you actually think some team is going to pay a 1st for a guy who missed and this is if he starts playing immediately 40% of the season after being a cap dump. Yeah that’s happening, no it isn’t.
