Because we keep seeing it as Columbus fans, no, Boone Jenner is not going to be traded to the Leafs. Yes, the Leafs could use a Jenner. Yes, every other team in the league could use a Jenner. Toronto isn't special.
Columbus trading Jenner would be a huge ask. With his contract, captaincy, and intangible value to the team, Columbus would be giving up their heart and soul. As an exercise, here's a few comparable players in value to their team at the time and contract term remaining that I think would be a similar ask:
2010-11 Ryan Getzlaf - age 25, captain, 2 years left at $5,325,000
2017-18 Mark Giordano - age 34, captain, 4 years left at $6,750,000
2011-12 Dustin Brown - age 27, captain, 2 years left at $3,175,000
2017-18 Gabriel Landeskog - age 25, captain, 3 years left at $5,571,429
2013-14 Jamie Benn - age 24, captain, 3 years left at $5,250,000
2016-17 Alex Pietrangelo - age 27, captain, 3 years left at $6,500,000
2015-16 John Tavares - age 25, captain, 3 years left at $5,500,000
2016-17 Claude Giroux - age 29, captain, 5 years left at $8,275,000
2019-20 Patrice Bergeron - age 34, captain, 2 years left at $6,875,000
And finally:
2003-04 Mats Sundin - age 32, captain, 3 years left at $6,530,000
The ask would be insane for any of these players, and the ask is insane for Jenner. No, he's not as good as any of them, but he's cheaper than almost all of them and still playing top-line minutes.
Point is: These players weren't going anywhere, and neither is Jenner. Stop asking.
Those aren't very good comparables by actual stats outside of your feelings ... and your feelings don't matter. Jenner wouldn't have actual value close to those players because he's not as good a player. You say his value is that he is the 'heart and soul' of the team but heart and soul has shown to carry little value in the marketplace historically.
End complaining about agm trades like your team is the only one who gets agms they dont like
The rules say otherwise sir. Only Fans of other teams can constantly propose horrible trades involving the leafs because they have to lose in a 1 sided disaster to be fair. Move Nylander? We might get a 1st and a B prospect. But Jenner is going to get a McDavid package because of the rules. But don't complain about it, it's not allowed
If this is the value Jenner gets, I can't wait to see the value Kerfoot gets (slightly less production but more versatile)
Kerfoot sucks, the only reason he performs so well is because he's on the leafs, on any other team he wouldn't make the roster. Same with everyone else on the leafs. Which is somehow the accepted truth on this site and yet the Leafs are 3rd overall. It's a weird conspiracy

Oh yay. Leafs fans complaining about trades on a site that is half leaf fans.
Also, Palhal is like the only leaf fan on the whole site that has ever called a trade unfair when it benefits the leafs
I mean to be fair most of the reason those players weren't going anywhere is because their teams were good
This is true, but I also purposely picked seasons that weren't their best or the teams' best. Only Brown won the Cup the year listed. But "bad team" doesn't mean "firesale of everyone with value, including those with term" which was the point I'm trying to make.

He's not as good. But it's also incredibly rare to see captains traded, especially ones with term. But I also doubt any of the players listed are moved at that time for the package listed for Jenner.

Very fair haha, but I want to let off some steam sometimes too.

I mean I get not wanting to trade Jenner but those comparisons are hilarious
In terms of production? Yes, not close. In terms of likelihood of actually being traded, given the year/term/contracts? About the same. Again, a bad team doesn't warrant the firesale of every asset. Every team has untouchables, and Jenner is one of them (and definitely one of the few) for Columbus.

More versatile you say? Well then I just don't get why all these leafs fans keep dreaming of getting Jenner no matter what they're told. You have KERFOOT , what ever do you need a lesser player like Jenner for then? Guess your comment ends the conversation, leafs don't have any use or need for Jenner clearly, thank you leafsfan98..thank you.
There might be a little bit of sarcasm here (in my comment) and no, I am not one of the Leafs fans who want Jenner/pay the price for him

See previous and even in the sacastic comment I made, I still think Jenner has more value than Kerfoot but was joking by saying: "If Jenner can get 2 firsts and our top 2 prospects than Kerfoot could still get 1 first round pick due to versatility and being slightly les productive than Jenner on the points/goals/assists counter. Since when did I say that Kerfoot was at all more valuable than Jenner. Finally, yes, the Leafs shouldn't be spending their valuable assets on Jenner when ROR or Barbashev (whom will be cheaper options) will still be on the board
