I don't think Leafs would be able to resign Meier unless they trade someone in their core, my ideal move would be trading Reilly in the offseason and replacing him with a cheaper LHD and trying to resign Meier, or trading one of Meier or Nylander this offseason. A team like Buffalo could be interested in Meier as a RFA after this year

Meier would be my number 1 choice for Leafs, but i am sure he would be the number 1 choice for quite a few teams

yeah but I love Knies. Would replace Meier perfectly as they have a similar style of play. Also if you look at Knies his stats are very similar to Tommy Bordeleau. Both but up around a ppg in the Big-10 at 20 years old.

It's really just next season and the year after that are hard. Then JT is going to be way cheaper.

I was reading that on the Athletic, he's a great leader and player, but with the Blues out of playoffs I think they should move him now and take a shot at resigning him in the offseason.

LOL, in this instance Leafs have lots of options for the top 6, you go with whos playing the best, if Schenn isn't up to par i would move Brodie back to the Right side and go

I mean, it's already very obvious he isnt up to par so why would the leafs give up anything remotely valuable when he's, at best, their 8th defender?

Yes, but at 34 he isn't going to be getting a raise on his next deal, I bet he resigns for 3-4 years for less than 6 and that will still be a crazy good value contract.
