People on this site continue to hate the fact that NHL GMs value JA. Can't wait to see how mad everyone is when he gets dealt for positive value

The Flames are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the Lucic deal, why would they do this?

People need to look at who Josh Anderson is, not the imaginary top 6 stud who doesn't actually exist. He's a physical guy and he can score, but he's completely inept as an offensive talent. Guy has no brain, that's why he's got 3 assists this season.

I can't see Calgary while being so close to getting out from one albatross contract, throwing that away to tie themselves to an even worse long term contract.

It will take a close to equal amount of bad long term contracts or cap dumps going back to Montreal to free themselves of that mistake.

If he was that bad it would take a lot more than a 3rd and Lucic to unload his 5 years and it wouldn't be to a team trying to contend that is maximizing their cap.
If people would just admit that they'd love to have him if he was cheap enough, that would be more reasonable than everyone proposing negative value trades because they are buying into the "cap dump" narrative that doesn't apply to real life.
Montreal has no need or desire to move him any time soon. You have to offer something appealing to even have a chance to change that. We're happy to keep him otherwise.

Gee how do when this post was from a Habs fan? Four full season of taking on a 5.5m contact is worth a 3rd rounder sweetener? Interesting that he Anderson on the first line with the Flames while the bottom feeding Habs has him as a third liner.
PS. Lucic waiving for Habs in his last NHL season? I have as much chance of being a Hab this season.

There is absolutely no proof that GMs value Anderson if there was no retention on his contract, or equally bad contract was returned (I'd be hard pressed to find a worse contract)

i guess there is technicly no proof that GM do not value anderson and his contract. ( not saying they do, just that its not much of a argument.) and if you want a worse contract, just look at gallagher!

Doesn't matter, he is tall and can skate in a straight line really fast. Every NHL GM over the age of 40 loves those qualities

Sure, as long you don't believe any of the people who work in the business who's job it is to talk to the NHL GMs about these kinds of things.

The real question is, why does MTL need to dump Anderson? They got 25M cap space next summer with only Caufield and Harris to extend.

Unless they want to sign 2 or 3 big UFA, which i highly doubt, then they don't need to dump anyone.

Montreal won't be paying anyone to take Anderson. He'd be a good fit for the Flames and Sutter's systems. A right shot RW with size speed physicality and a scoring touch pretty much exactly what the Flames need. However Montreal would have to take Looch in return to make it work for Calgary this year and they'd need 1-1.5 mil retention on him to make it work long term. For that I could see the Flames giving Montreal a 2nd round pick or a decent prospect. If Montreal is willing to take Looch do the retention and add their own 2023 2nd round pick Calgary would likely be willing to add Pelletier.

You're really naive. Reporters do talk to GMs. Here's the scoop.
Reporter....Mr Hughes, are you going to be doing some trades this season? Hughes.....We've had interest our UFAs and other players . Reporter.....Would Hoffman, and , Edmundson who have two years left till UFA be traded?: Hughes..... Well I suppose if the deal is right any player can be traded.

So the report writer/talks...and somehow the dumb fans think think he (Hughes) really said anything of note. "Well I suppose if the deal is right any player can be traded". Wow, is that news to any intelligent person?

And no GM is going to lay out his plans to reporters so he can tell the world. GM outright lie all the time. Their responsibility is to their team, not reporters or the public. Certainly no GM is going to throw a player "under the bus". in public. Do you really think Hughes would say. "We have had no offers for Anderson that don't include at 50% retention."

Reporters....they write and talk....to get get clickbait...to keep their jobs. They lie to to public so people follow them and provide revenue to their employer.

I agree, he isn’t good. But his name is constantly out there by insiders. Likely fluffing the situation but Hughes has said multiple times that since taking the job, there’s nobody he has received more trade inquiries about than Josh Anderson… I do think he will be traded by the draft and the return will likely be absolutely shocking. Retention for 4 years is not happening, that’s for sure.

Asset management. Hughes recognizes that Anderson’s contract will age poorly and must trade him while the iron is hot.

You’re joking right? When they give 2 or 3 teams a player is likely going to be traded to and then the player gets traded to one of those teams, I guess it’s a lucky guess.

Are you serious? All you have to do is draw a line between valuable pending UFAs and contending teams...it isn't hard at all. The insiders are only inside their own asses. They dont know ****

So you think when Friedman gets on tv in mid November and says Ben Chiarot will be traded to St Louis or Florida for a 1st+ and then 4 months later it happens, it’s pure fluke and just connecting dots? Get out of here with that bs man

I think Elliotte knows a bit, but not a lot. GMs aren't leaking trade proposals to the media dude. Are you kidding me? It's all pure speculation.

Chiarot didn't go to St Louis buddy.
