Formenton isn't getting traded til the Hockey Canada report gets released and he's somehow cleared. But him not even signing a contract for this current season should be the writing on the wall

-Isles aren't in a position to be buyers currently, and making this current roster older just seems like a great way to make sure that 2nd rounder comes in the mid-30s.

-This one's a head-scratcher to me. Not only are you trading Roslovic for a guy that, if he comes back next fall, will have gone more than a year between NHL games, you're also replacing him with a guy who all accounts have as not coming back to North America this year. And, to top it all off, the one good young player you have coming back is a guy you have as a healthy scratch because your RHD depth is actually pretty decent. Bad value for everyone here.

Why would The islanders (who aren’t going to make the playoffs) trade two picks for Nyqvist? Just to come along for the ride of missing the playoffs?

The Senators are a team with precious little cap space next year and there is no way I'm having a $4 million guy with 4 goals on my roster instead of DeBrincat or a RHD. Not to mention we already have Stutzle, Norris, Pinto, Greig, and Kastelic down the middle.

The Nyquist trade is fine. The Gavrikov trade isn't - 1st or no Gavrikov. And there is no compensation we would accept to take on Formenton and that baggage.
