I don’t think he will either. BUT if he is this is the type of deal I’d expect.

Dude Amirov has brain cancer, he's not getting traded. And we're definitely not trading Bert to the Leafs for Amirov and a late 1st round pick.

Maatta is worth a 2nd round pick.

Larkin isn't getting traded, Both Khan and HJS have said that Larkin and Yzerman are inching closer to a new deal.

They would find room. The rielly contract plus retaining 3 million canceles the cap hit out

I do agree with you, but lets say he is, is this move the needle for the Wings as a pure rental? BOS wouldn't be able to retain him as an FA and Larkin probably ends right back in DET. Larkin is probably worth 1st, prospect and 4th himself and Osterle is probably worth a 3rd-5th, but with retention and Reilly cap dump I see the Wings needing more. Lysell is a nice prospect and the first is basically the last pick so maybe that 3rd should be upgraded to a 2nd if BOS makes the CONF finals or something like that.

The cap hit works as retaining half of Larkin's $6.1M is only hitting BOS with $3.05M and BOS is dropping Reilly who is $3M so it works.

In a perfect world, where personalities didn't exist and Larkin was willing to participate in collusion, it'd be amazing for him to agree to leave at the TDL, net a monster return, then come back in FA, but I can't see him giving up the 8th year eligibility in the contract and Detroit blowing up the locker-room for the rest of this season, with a young team.

Not cap space, roster space. Just look at their roster. Where does Larkin fit?

Not having Craig smith on the 1st line as a start. Larking can take over at 2C and pushing Krejci down to 3C and moving Coyle to the RW position enabling reuniting the top loaded 1st line or just moving Coyle to RW1 and having two well balance scoring lines while boosting line 3 for a deep playoff run. This move makes sense for the Bs as having your top 2 Cs be 36/37 years old trying to win a cup doesn't look great on paper.

No way Bert even gets a 1st right now. He needs to get on the ice and play well to get anything at this point

That might make things better. Might also break the team. The third line of Hall - Coyle - Frederic has been nothing short of fantastic. I doubt the team wants to break that up. Likewise with Krejci playing at a near point per game pace (virtually identical to Larkin for what its worth). Smith is only playing on the top line because Debrusk has been injured. He’s supposed to resume skating this week.

A team that’s on pace to break the record for most wins in league history doesn’t need this kind of major surgery. In a sport that’s driven so much by chemistry and fit, a move like this seems just as likely to be a negative disruption than a positive one.

Yeah you’re not cause Leaf’s decline. Amirov if he’s traded means he’s healthy and if he’s healthy id rather keep him and a 1st , spend the 1st on someone that fits better. If he’s not healthy then that means Leafs are trading a kid with BC and that’s terrible PR. He is skating again though, I don’t know his timeline but id say he plays next year. Just not sure where.
