Why would the Bruins trade Swayman in a year they are going for the cup? Have fun being first round exits buddy.

    Bridge deal.

And if he is valuable enough to get the contract you are implying than he is worth far more than that garbage return.

If Boston were to trade Swayman for a defenseman his name would be Chychrun. Not a stiff whose ceiling is a #5 with a couple of picks that won’t amount to anything.

Bjornfjort would be 6th or 7th in the org depth chart for LD.

Hawks got a 2bd for taking 2 years of dickinson at 3 mil. It's gonna cost atleast a 1st to dump petersen.

I mean that's just not true. Bjornfot immediately becomes the best LD prospect in Boston's pipeline and (speaking from experience of someone who watched a ton of Derek Forbort), is already about there in terms of being able to replace Derek on the left. Toby plays a different game than Forbort, though, so it doesn't necessarily fit the role that Forbort plays. But dismissing a former 1st round pick who's close to being a top-4 D, a 2nd, and a 3rd as a "garbage return" for a goalie who has a total of 70 games of experience behind the best defense in the league is over-reactionary.

For the record, I also don't think this trade works for either team. But let's not go saying the value isn't there. The 2nd round pick would need to be brought in well closer to the present time than 2025, but the base of the ingredients looks about right. The pieces just don't work for the individual teams (LA needs LD, so won't be trading one out. It's much more likely they'd deal from their stable of RD).

He's bigger, but I don't think he's better. I haven't watched his college games, though.

That remains to be seen, of course, with NHL games for Lohrei when they come. But Bjornfot was picked higher (not a TRUE indicator of level of play, obviously, but it's one of the few comparison data points we have currently), and has already over 100 NHL games on his resume.

While I agree with that statement, you've offered virtually nothing to dump Peterson. Hawks would be much better just to sign a goalie for 5m...maybe Swayman or some UFA.

TB has zero offense to his game and likely never we’ll. Lohrei is a converted fW that has a lot of offense to his game and making great strides on D. I’d say he has a higher ceiling.

Where one is drafted has little indication of NHL success. Just scouting opinions which are lot guesswork. Also quality of draft class makes matters.

Tough call for me honestly - Chicago took on 2x$3.8M of Petr Mrazek's deal at the cost of dropping from #25 to #38 for Toronto - a price equivalent to a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick per GSVA.

There's more dollars here, but LA's offering you the same value in draft capital plus a young body. If they upgraded from Moverare to an U23 prospect with a little more upside, I think I'd jump on it - gives you a chance to let Soderblom develop for another year while you run Mrazek/Petersen, then you can run Soderblom/Petersen while waiting for Commesso.

Not sure how Sean Walker is playing currently, but that deal is good for Buffalo. Low risk, adding depth.

I get the logic. But, whether Davidson will admit it publicly or not, Mrazek and all his other moves over the summer were calculated moves to help us tank for Bedard. I also think it was sort of a favor/apology to Dubas for the leak at last years TDL. I don't think CHI can afford to INTENTIONALLY tank any longer than a single season. Not that he is gonna go out and buy a contending roster for next season, but the building should begin at this seasons end. Also, he has stated openly this season that he wants to leverage CHI's cap space and is willing to take on bad contracts, but teams are going to have to pay. The cap only raising by $1M for next season only serves to reinforce that strategy.

What happened last year was last year. It was just a single step in the trudge of a rebuild. It was him ripping the bandaid off and jump starting the rebuild with multiple 1st round picks and setting up the 22-23 tank. That is just the way I see it and I'm hoping it coincides with Davidsons vision and actions as well. But only time will tell. He could also make moves that will only look savvy in hindsight, and not so much in the moment. Or he could turn out to be a turd and mess the whole thing up making dumb moves all along the way. I don't think we will really know for at least another 2 years.
