If Tanev is out long term the Flames will be looking for a top 4 defenseman not a 3rd pairing guy.

Schenn might be a good addition for the playoffs, but I agree he's a 3rd pairing guy. Not sure he's worth a 3rd + Nikolayev, but Big Feisty Right Shot D-Men are usually highly sought after, so he should fetch a decent return

There's no evidence Tanev will be out long-term, but his replacement would be Weegar, who is much better on the right side of Zadorov than he is on the left side of Tanev anyways

if they didn't have zadorov and needed a banger i would think this is fine but yeah they can chase higher.
