Think we've gotta hold onto Tyce just incase he's a super late bloomer like his brother

Why would Calgary trade him? He's an up and coming center thats just ina small slump right now. He's pretty good a faceoffs for a rookie too. He has size, drive, and is pretty decent defensively. Unless Calgary is making a deal for someone like Konecny or Guentzel I cant imagine he's remotely available. Its like asking what you want for Mercer, Ruzicka's a couple years older, but similarly new to the league and producing at a fairly similar rate. Reminds me a lot of Necas in his first couple seasons

I think Ruzicka takes a huge overpay to get. With Calgary's cap situation next season the Flames need as many NHL ready guys on small contracts until the cap increases. Ruzicka has proven he can play in the league but still has consistency issues, there really isn't a situation next year where Calgary is in a better position from moving him unless the return is a no doubt about it overpay. Especially with the coach in Calgary a big body player that has already developed trust in the system with good defensive metrics is crucial to being on the roster. I'm in no way saying he's untouchable but he brings more value to the Flames now than he would get in a trade.

Used Tyce as an example. Truth is, he’s not waivers exempt next year so. If he doesn’t make the roster next year, another team can claim him. He’s below Bastian, Zetterlund, Holtz and arguably Clarke in the depth chart. He will be a mainstay in the NHL. I just don’t know if it’s Jersey, unless 2/3 I’ve listed are traded.

Fair point. I just wanted to see his availability. He is a solid hockey player that brings a lot of grit and tenacity. A lot of teams could use a player of his caliber.

Mercer would be a stretch. Probably Zetterlund would be closest comp on NJD.
