Description
Thinking about Boeser and how much VAN would need to retain to make it work for the Wild. I also think Boeser at 5 mil would be quite easy to unload in the off-season if they decided to go that route.

If we assume the cap goes up to $83.5 mil, Wild are roughly $1.8 mil over with 20 skaters and key RFAs signed. The team also looks VERY different, but I think different in a good way. A lot of the roster construction is dependent on what comes in and out at the TDL, such as a young D man, that could make a guy like Goose expendable.

Any value that goes back is likely for retention purposes. VAN would need to eat at least the $1.65 mil to get him to a $5 mil player.

If Hartman can fetch a 1st like some Leafs fans suggest, the Wild should probably do that. I do think he fits a need for TOR in the bottom 6.

If Greener can net one of those 2nds, I’d be pretty happy with that return. Granato was mentioned as a guy that respects what Greenway can bring and BUF is positioned to make a bet like this.

AS a Sabers fan I like to see what Granato could do with some of these struggling players from other teams. But unless the trade is a killer deal or a RD I don't think Adam's will do it.

Do you think they’re gonna make a move at the TDL to push for the playoffs? They’re in a spot where they can throw around a pick or 2.

I would I would like to see Luke Schenn I think he would be the perfect fit. I think if Adam's does make a trade it's not going to be a rental. He didn't make any last year.

I'd love to see Buffalo get Greenway, he could provide a lot of what they lack in the bottom 6. Problem would be having too many forwards considering they just waived Hino. I would think they would need to send someone else out to accommodate Greenway. Asplund would seem to make the most sense.

@Jnowariak -- I like this build. Wild could become compliant by not signing Steel and letting Rossi take that spot or someone on a minimum and saving nearly $1M AND brining someone up on an entry deal and unloading Goose for a pick exchange. I'd rather go this route and not be pressed to move Boeser, although your retention to $5M didn't work and they would be nearly compliant with the retention that you speak of.

Yeah, appreciate the feedback. I wanted to see what would need to be done to make Boeser work. It’s basically trading him for Freddy and Hartman, which I’m fine with. I don’t think this team, as currently constructed in 2022, can do anything. My biggest hope is that Freddy gets traded and Dean is forced to play Rossi.

But you could also keep Hartman and let Steel go as well in this scenario, I signed them to the same cap hit. But I wonder if the Dumba scratches weren’t to showcase Goose a bit. If it’s as unlikely that a team ponies up for Dumba as I think, I don’t see Goose wanting to hang around. And that solves some of the cap problems.

Most of the guys are also waiver exempt so you could bank some insurance cap space along the way.
