Whatever value you think horvat has is canceled out by the negative value of jt miller.

How would Minnesota even make this work cap wise?

Vancouver would likely want more and Minnesota literally can't afford to do this

Zero chance that VAN would require more than this.... lets breakdown the value
Horvat - worth 1st, prospect and maybe middle round pick
Kuzmenko - worth 1st
Schenn - worth 2nd/3rd
Miller - negative value and VAN would need to add something to have a team take him or eat a cap dump from another team

Dumba - worth a 1st
Lambois - 1st rounder and probably 2nd rated prospect behind Rossi in MN system
Ohgren - 1st rounder and probably 3rd/4th rated prospect in MN system

This would mean MN is giving up basically 4 1sts and a 4th.... No way! Taking on JT Miller eliminates a 1st in the players above and at best is maybe Dumba, 1 high prospect, a 1st and maybe a 3/4/5 rd pick -- This still wouldn't make sense for MN as they cannot afford Miller at $8M next year, Horvat at $8M (most likely or higher). Giving up all these assets for a couple of rentals.... come on now?!?!?

Good feedback. Cap would make this a challenge no doubt. Van could retain on Bo for this season but both he and Kuz would be rentals unless minny moved some money out.

Let's change it slightly.

Horvat
Kuzmenko
Schenn

Dumba
Lambos
Ohgren
Min 1st

Why would Dumba be of interest to a Vancouver team that is trying to tank in this scenario? And it seems like Guerin would hit the lottery before he'd get a 1st for Dumba without retention

Lambos was a late 1st with injury concerns at a position of damn near surplus for Vancouver

Ohgren would most definitely be the most enticing piece offered here and winger isn't a huge need for Vancouver.

And the 1st is late

And again, this deal literally doesn't work for Minnesota

So not only would Vancouver want a center prospect (Rossi, likely) and more value in general (they aren't paying to get rid of Miller either) but Minnesota shouldn't ads that value nor can they even afford this trade

It's bad all around. I never said Minnesota should be adding either, they shouldn't even go for this

Yes, my bad, I wasn't clear as I was just breaking down values for the individuals. I wasn't trying to say the trade made sense for either side as it doesn't.

From MN:
- Trading Duma to a contender makes the only sense for MN so they can recoup assets to maybe use in other trades
- Ohgren and Lambois will be needed in 2/3 years as the dead caps come off and MN probably goes after a few top priced FAs
- No way MN trades their 1st this year as they need it going into cap hell for the next 2 years unless it retains a 30 goal guy on a "CHEAP" contracted that is controlled for 2-4 years

From VAN:
- Stupid to package any of these players together really
- Bo will fetch a ton by himself due to his longevity and the season he is having as a 1C
- Kuzmenko will most likely get only a 1st as he has 1 season in the NHL and his contract is basically nothing so his market will be BIG
- JT Miller will probably cost VAN to dump him
- Schenn might be added to a Bo or Kuz deal so maybe its just another pick coming back but I could see a D hungry cup contender paying a 2nd for him

I believe the phrase "you hit the nail on the head" would apply here
