So your getting a 1st for picking up monahan and a 1st for trading him? Thats some savy GMing. I love the sabres deal, where you get stuff and some one else pays allen for the next 3 years. Again genius. The craig smith move where you trade a guy to get a prospect that you trade to another team to get the best player in all 3 deals and a pick is pretty amazing too.
Perhaps you should rename this greatest gm ever.

Why is TB adding picks in the Myers for Wideman trade? Both players are equally as bad.

Due to the CBA you can't get picks based on a player signing so the Buffalo Sabres trade wouldn't work.

Sabres don't need another goalie for the carousel currently. I also don't know why they would take on the risk of a 2nd round pick for Portillo not signing, even if that is allowed (as RavensShadow mentioned it isn't). Happy to find a home for Hino tho he shouldn't be in the minors

How about this: the Avs don't need Monahan, especially not for a 2023 1st and a roster player; Monahan isn't worth that so it's a "no" already on both counts. The Avs already have a C that is playing better than Monahan, hasn't missed a game and is rarely injured enough to miss more than a few games at a time; Monahan is injured and gets injured a lot. So, strike three for the Avs acquiring Monahan, a player that is consistently grossly overvalued by MTL fans.

Ben Meyers is just a 4th liner I don't understand why you want to keep him so much. Avalanche is interested in Monahan as stated by LeBrun. So I don't get why you want to say that it's Habs fan the problem. Finally I think it would be Monahan for a 2nd or 3rd because of the injury risk. Avs will not pay the price for Horvat, O'reilly or Toews. I think Toews would be their first choici for the brother connection. Compher is best suited for 3rd C

The point is that the Avs don't need Monahan so they sure as hell aren't paying a 1st for him and, more importantly, he doesn't have that sort of value, which, to your credit, you actually acknowledge. LeBrun can say whatever he wants but it's just what he's "hearing" so I take that with a grain of salt; Monahan isn't a great skater so I'm not sure he even fits with the Avs.

I can't tell if you're being cheeky but Devon Toews and Jonathan Toews aren't brothers; they aren't related at all. And since J Toews can pick where he wants to go, the cost for him could be a lot lower than some people think, even with the retention Chicago will certainly have to make part of the deal. He's certainly the better player between himself and Monahan, even at this point in his career. If J Toews says, "I'll only go to the Avs," they could have him for a few picks and maybe a decent prospect but they aren't getting a windfall for him.

Every day, a Montreal ACGM posts some awful Monahan to Colorado trade involving a 1st. And every day, Avs fans and every other fan base says that’s an instant no.

And yet, somehow, Montreal fans continue to increase the value of this player. Who hasn’t even played a game in a month and a half.

There’s nothing on the Montreal roster that Colorado would want if the asking price is anywhere close to this. Avs decline, go away.

I feel like this happens every time someone tells Montreal fans that they’re out to lunch on their valuation of a player.

Nobody is talking about Lehkonen, a young player who was a pending RFA with good underlying analytics playing only like 14 mins for Montreal. We’re talking about Monahan: a pending UFA with a long history of injuries and slow foot speed.

X team is interested because someone who gets feed BS regularly to advance a teams cause said so.. who in the Avalanche organization would tell Lebrun yuppers we want Monihan. That's coming from someone in Montreal's if he's actually hearing it which means it's a coin toss at best if they are. Even if they're interested doesn't mean they're willing to screwed in the deal.

The Avs are also notoriously tight lipped. When’s the last time anything has been leaked about Colorado roster moves? We can barely get an injury update about star players.

No team tells Lebrun or Johnson or Friedman who they're trying to acquire unless they're trying to put out a smokescreen.
