Remember that his contract expires this year. For an exercise like this, cap hit is just as important as a player's actual xGAR. At 8m, he likely does not make this team over, say, Jack Hughes. At 10, not even close.

BUF fans that are goo goo gaa gaa over Meier neglect the fact that he is a $10mm AAV player next year if he wants to be and then a UFA after that if he wants to be.
