Rumor is it would cost less than debrincat... so a first and a decent young bottom pair guy should get it done.

Even if Meier does end up returning less than Debrincat, the Sens still gave up the 7th and 39th overall picks last year + a 3rd next year. One mid to late first and Stanley is just not enough for Timo, let alone 50% retained

I have not heard that rumour but it surely doesn't sound right. Meier and a certified stud. Add another 1st and you're getting close.

Timo had a slow start to the year, so that plus his $10M QO lowered his price tag but he's only gotten better as the season goes on, if he isn't moved soon the price is going to keep rising.

People on here have no clue. It is annoying at times. Values don't change for players based on 10-20 games barely at all. Especially when you can just look at the underlying numbers or the eye test and see the player is exceptional. 10m qo is the only thing the limits his value. A slow start on counting stats hasn't damaged his value at all. Nor is his value going up daily.

Lol, no that does not get it done for Meier. Maybe if that was the ONLY offer for him.

And I dont think that gets it done for Garland either. What value does Saku have for VAN? As an expiring UFA, he'd be a rental. Even Harkins would be better cause he at least has term.

It was Frank Seravalli who reported that he’s likely going to fetch less than what CHI got for Debrincat. I’d give up Heinola, the 1st and a prospect to get it done.

Yeah 1 point in his first 9 games adjusting to a damn near new team, new coaching staff, new GM. He's now sitting at a point per game, so that should tell you how dominant he's playing since then.

But I think the Cat comparison is horrible given that was a deal at the draft, with a draft pick in the top 10. Teams pay more at the deadline because they go all in to win in the playoffs as well. Chicago also needed to recoup a first rounder so Cat was gone from the get-go. Sharks on the other hand could very well re-sign Meier, so he'll only get dealt if it's an offer Grier REALLY likes

he had a slow start due to an injury, take the first 9 games out and you have a guy who has an insane stat line 36 games 26 goals 18 assists 44 points. In comparison both Fiala and Debrincat are producing far less showing Meier is clearly a better player, plus Meier has 3-4” 20 pounds on both and is just as fast. if he doesn’t return more than Debrincat sharks shouldn’t deal him.

Think they might need a couple top 4 dmen too or at least one, that just doesn't look like the defense of a contender.

Seravelli isn't the most reliable source but even taken at his word. Meier is worth less than the 7th and 39th picks and a 3rd in 24'. Winnipeg's first is gonna be in the 20s probably. So you've got a lot to add. Stanley or Heinola aint it. The Devil's for instance could blow that out of the water.

Would you trade Mark Scheifele for the 24th pick and Heinola for instance? Meier is younger and more impactful than even Scheifele.

the QO at this point isn’t even that big a drawback, the dude is tearing it up! he is comming off a ppg and 35 goal season and
if you take out the first 9 games where he was dealing with an injury, new coach and system and a weird schedule due to the europe games and he is on pace for 45+ goals and roughly 1.22 ppg (ppg and 45 goals even when you don’t take out the first 9 games) he is arbitration eligible so it is more like 1 year 8.65-9 mil and he is also only 26 and just hitting his prime.
worse case senario you trade for him got through the playoffs then trade his rights to another team to recoup some of the costs!

I do agree the package would need more. Also seravalli is very reliable, he had the entire Seattle expansion draft order.

100% I just mean it from the stand point of how many teams can sign a guy for 10 mil. And while he's worth 10 mil once a player signs a deal that big their value is diminished.

meiers return will only be less than cat because of who is trading for him, as in late first + a great prospect < than top ten + early second + early third. People really think they can get meier for a bunch of depth pieces

Horrible Meier trade. Meier has 26 goals in 46 games and that’s after not scoring the first 9 games of the season. Since those 9 games he’s on a 61 goal pace over 82 games. A depth defenseman and late first is laughable

I have been saying that the Jets need a top 4 D more then a top 6 F for the past month. They need to replace pionk... either move him down or move him out.
