Just not feasible to fit Horvat and Pasta

Description
Even with trading away Coyle, Forbort and Reilly, signing Swayman and Frederic to one-year deal, plus Bergeron and Foligno taking near minimum deals, Bs have no cap space and a 20 man roster. Unless cap goes up more than expected, Horvat and Pasta in 2023-24 is just not happening

A garbage LD in Reilly, Lysell and a 2023 late 1st round pick isn't getting you an extended Bo Horvat. There's tons of other teams bidding on him that will offer far better packages than that. Vancouver needs RD not an aging useless LD in Mike Reilly

I'll give you the solution but you're not gonna like it. If Berg retires you trade Marchand for a cheap top 6 option and a bunch of futures and you turn the page all at once.

Why do you think horvat will re-define the trade deadline rental market?

If thats the plan, adding a top six center shouldn’t be in the plans.

I mean im not sure how much you really think Horvat is going to get. Any team trading for him is going to have a late 1st rounder and you're getting the teams top prospect. Maybe they get a bit more but I would lower your expectations.

Regardless the post was more about how the Bruins cant fit horvat, trade return wasnt that important

I can't see Marchand playing for any other team not named the Bruins. Even if Bergy and Krejci retire next year, the Bruins will be competitive. Their defense, goaltending and wingers are too damn good. Think of a team like Minny.

If the Bruins sign Horvat, trading Marchand makes zero sense.

IMO it would take one extra piece for the Canucks to trade an extended Bo.

Probably something like a conditional pick, conditional 2024 3rd that becomes a 2024 1st if Boston makes ECF in either 2023 or 2024.

The main reason I say this is because Boston's 1st is almost certainly going to be in the 28-32nd overall range.

Everyone that’s trading for horvat is going to have a late pick.

There is a big difference, and I think you know it.

The same report that noted Boston also said Carolina, Seattle, Colorado, and Detroit have checked in.

If BOS represents 32nd, those would represent 31st, 23rd, 15th, and 9th right now. And all of them have a way more realistic chance of changing their ranking than BOS does from changing from 32nd. BOS is 12 pts up on CAR in 2nd, and CAR would drop to 24th by falling down just 5 pts.

Even other less rumored teams like NSH (would be 14th OA), NYI (would be 16th OA), and NYR (would be 24th) are much different than BOS's.

Idk if I'd do it but you get younger a good center and young pieces. Might be better in the long run but moving such a a pillar of the organization isn't an easy thing.

It wasn’t really a report.

Non-playoff teams aren’t doing this. All the first rounders offered will be in the bottom ten of the draft.

Why wouldn't non-playoff teams be willing to trade protected 1sts, if they extend Horvat? I agree a team like DET wouldn't, but the teams in the teens likely would.

Wait, hold on, are you not aware that it literally was a report by a long time reporter lmao.

Quote:
An NHL source has confirmed to Boston Hockey Now that reports of NHL trade talks between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks picking up recently are indeed true.

Quote:
The source mentioned the Colorado Avalanche, Detroit Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes, and Seattle Kraken as other teams interested in acquiring Horvat.

Quote:
The common belief is that it will take a first round pick, maybe even two, and high end prospect to get a deal for Horvat done on the NHL trade sweepstakes.

It’s a blog. It’s not credible. Jimmy Murphy’s job is to generate clicks by reporting wacky stuff, it’s why he was fired from every reasonable publication so he started a blog.

First off, don’t say “take the L.” Those people are the worst.

Secondly, regarding the pick, there are a grand total of 4 “non play-off,” draft positions that the pick could be if it’s sent to vancouver. 13, 14, 15, and 16. I think it’s pretty clear that the islanders think they’ll be a playoff team, and i agree with them. It’s very unlikely this pick will not be a non playoff pick.

I’d say take the L but I’m not a massive tool.

"Bottom 10" means 22-32, man. You said "All the first rounders offered will be in the bottom ten of the draft."

Which, for the record is still very possible. You’re quibbling over something pretty minor here. The islanders are very likely to be a playoff team, and its completely possible that pick is bottom 10.
