Murphy would be a good addition for Ottawa. He's been solid for the Hawks. I think his contract is fair, if not below current market value for a Dman his level. 3 years left after this year. Two M-NTC's make this doubtful, and I'm not sure Hawks want to take on 2 defensemen as they are going to want to make some space for young guys next year.

Hawks decline. Not certain Murphy would waive for Ottawa, but assuming he does, it takes the 2023 1st to get Murphy and take on Zaitsev's deal. And replace Brannstrom w/ a comparable F prospect. Hawks don't need more left shot D

Made did am ACGM for Murphy months ago and was chastised for the move.

Murphy and Sanderson forms a formidable paring..... just not sure I would want to move Brännström in that package. Thompson would likely be the guy I go with, simply because 1) filling one hole and creating another and 2) Thompson should be NHL ready next year filling that RD spot left by Murphy in Chicago.

Might mean moving a little window dressing, but since the Hawks are in full fledged rebuild, adding another pick is something they entertain....

Gotta think.

Let's keep in mind that moving Zaits is going to cost a 2nd.
Murphy is going to be worth a 1st to a 2nd ++
Hawks have plenty of young D men (especially on the left side) as a young player or prospect in the system but not enough forwards.

I don't think this is far off, but Brannstrom is not someone the Hawks will likely value that high.

Sens will not move their 2023 first, shouldn't in any circumstances unless it's for a big fish but cap space is getting tight so unlikely anyway

COL doesn’t need to revisit Brassard though the value isn’t bad

It's not just Murphy for that pick. Sens are also shedding the Zaitsev contract. Part of the cost in getting rid of that is including the 1st, part of that is in the prospect added to the trade.

If the 1st is out of the question, then make it the Ottawa 2023 and 2024 2nds and a better quality F prospect. This post has Murphy on Sens 2nd pair, so he obviously has value in the eyes of the original poster.

No it's really because the 1st is out of the question. You could add 5 bottom-6 forwards or bottom-pairing Ds and it wouldn't change this.

I'd be interested in upgrading Zaitsev to Murphy but there's a limit to what I would want to pay.

In another Chicago's ACGM, I said I would do Brännström and two 2nd round picks

So we're on the same page then. I suggested two 2nd's in place of a 1st. Just swap Brannstrom for a F prospect. Hawks dont need more LD.

Zeitsev cost a 2nd at most to dump, he has a great buyout contract on July first

Yeah, very close, it just depends on who the forward prospect would be.

Sens drafts from 2021 and 2022 don't look nearly as good as it used to be so have to be careful when trading prospects
