Description
Wahlstrom is out per the year, per inside sources. My best friend is friends w Barzal and asked for an update where he said he is done for the season.

I DONT CARE. I DO NOT. PLAY THE YOUTH. NO REASON NOT TO. THEY CAN SCORE, THEY CAN PASS, THEY CAN PLAY DEFENSE. THERE IS NO WAY THAT RATY, DUFOUR, HOLMSTROM AND ISKHANOV CAN BE WORSE THAN BAILEY, CIZIKAS, BEAU, CLUTTER, MARTIN AND ROSS. THEY CANNOT BE ANY WORSE. WE NEED TO SCORE, WE KNOW HOW TO HIT.

Pageau has looked good on the PP with Barzy and is good 5v5, play him w Barzal and Brock. I could also see Dufour there. He is NHL ready. And if he isnt, who cares. Id rather he play 15+ a night and learn then play in a bad AHL team. This is a year to learn and see what we have.

An alternative is a lineup of this:

Nelson-Barzal-Pageau
Lee-Raty-Holmstrom
Durandeau-Bardreau-Fasching

Where we can see what Durandeau has. I have always been high on him but he has never had his shot.

  1. Höglander, Nils
Détails additionnels:
Beau could use a change of scenery and so could Hoglander. I am not sure if Canada has lifted the vaccine mandate but assuming they have, theyll get a C level RD prospect with upside. I am sure Canucks fans will have an issue with this so feel free to add a mid pick to offset. This is also assuming they are big time sellers and need to add some cap and roster space.

NYI
  1. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (VGK)
  2. Choix de 6e ronde en 2025 (VGK)
Détails additionnels:
Cap-tight team gets two veteran players for less than league minimum and league minimum. I equate their value to Mayfield being a 2nd and 4th and Parise being a 3rd and 5th, so adding all of that up together equates to a late 1st.
VGK
  1. Mayfield, Scott (725 000 $ retained)

BUF
  1. Varlamov, Semyon (2 500 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Goalie rental + mid pick. No room for Portillo with Levi and UPL over the next few years, so they can run Varlamov+UPL this season and next if they re-sign Varly, then call up Levi. Levi needs at least one season of AHL imo. He is a future superstar, but they cannot rush it

Also one more thing . The Sabres need to try to contend. Give experience to the young team; plus BUF will be more enticing to free agents if they make the playoffs.

I'm fine with Buffalo doing that, but we'd then have 4 goalies, so atleast take comrie back

I don't see how two expiring FA's are worth a 2023 1st. You can't just add the value of late round picks together to come up with a 1st, especially in a draft that is supposed to be strong through the first two rounds; that just isn't how it works.

Sabres deal would make sense, if only they did not have 3 NHL goalies on the roster already. If one of them fail, there is still two.

This year has a stacked top 20, then it gets very average

Anderson sucks and Comrie is not that good, UPL has been much better as of late but is more of a 1B right now.

I've seen stacked top 60 with better quality in the 2nd round than there will be in the 1st in 2024. Anyhow, you can't add up lower-round value players (players that rarely make the NHL, let alone end up as impact players compared to 1sts) to come up with a 1st. No GM in their right mind would ever value players or picks that way; they can't put together two 2nd and 4th round, bottom-six or bottom-pair players to come up with a top-six two-way forward or top-four puck-mover that was drafted in the 1st. I mean, the draft is a crapshoot but it's not THAT unpredictable.

VGK is easily gonna decline that. With news on stones back, things could go south. Way too valuable to do that
