Dubois is in the same situation as Debrincat and is a worse player. He only got the 7th pick and 39th pick in a weak draft and another 3rd. My offer is a top 15 pick in a very good draft, and 2 B- prospects. Which is about the same value wise as the Debrincat trade

Unfortunately for you, the situations aren't similar at all. Debrincat had a ridiculous QO that Chicago didn't want to pay and even then all sports insiders agree that Chicago got robbed.

Then factor in that Debrincat is a winger while Dubois is a far more valuable 1C. The Jets won't have any problem getting a better offer than what you have here, so you don't have a shot.

What will it cost to get Dubois…

Let’s assume this:
1: He wants to play in MTL
2: therefore, he will not sign an extension in WPG for more than 1 season
3:what will other teams in the league offer WPG, knowing they will only get 1 season of Dubois since it’s known he wants to play in MTL?

If a contender offers WPG 2 “A” assets for a season of Dubois, MTL doesn’t have to offer much more than that to win the Dubois sweepstakes.

If WPG expects a Lindros kinda deal, they are dreaming. WPG will move him if he doesn’t sign a long term deal. They won’t let an asset like that go without getting something back.

Trade returns are about demand. Teams in the league will make offers for one season of Dubois. MTL doesn’t have to make a huge offer, they just have to outbid the teams wanting him for a year.

Why make poor assumptions to try and bring the value down?

As you said, a lot of the return in a trade is the demand for a player. A young 1C is the rarest thing in hockey. There will be no shortage of teams that would want Dubois. The offer here is less than Winnipeg gets for PLD as a pure rental at next years TDL, so it won't be hard to beat at all.

The Jets got more than this offer for Trouba and Trouba would only agree to be traded to one team.

Montreal fans are dreaming if they think that a first and a low value asset or two get them a young 1C.

If I’m Columbus I’d strongly consider that, Edmonton probably does too, but the rest of the trades are probably a no from the other team.

MTL really doesn’t need to trade for Dubois. He’s bee-lining your way once he hits UFA.

I never said I agreed with the proposal. I asked you what is the value of PLD? Most other teams will see him as a rental.

Put something down as to what that value is.

Why will most other teams see him as a rental? All we know now is that he wants to get to UFA to maximize his earning potential. So, the most likely situation if he will not extend in Winnipeg, is that the Jets let his agent talk to teams where he is willing to extend. Which pushes his price up as he won't be a rental.

Next year at the TDL PLD would get a first and an A/B prospect minimum, depending on the actual pick and prospect involved. So, then you need to add onto that for getting Dubois for an entire year in addition to that playoff run.

I don't think Edmonton would; there seems to be a lot of skepticism up there about Edmundson.
