That Preds trade is most certainly not fair. Way too much for a non-extended rental

Value is fair in the Leafs trade. Not sure we go after Schenn though. I would not be opposed to it if we get him though. But too many options can also cause problems. Kuzmenko would be very fun to get.

Dont have the capspace for horvat this season and definitely dont have enough for horvat next season. Any trade would have to be centered around Joahnsen or Granlund going back. Only way nashville would send more than 1 first is if Canucks took Johansen's full contract with a smile. We arent a cup competitive team at this point in time and spending any good futures should be off the table.

Add a 2nd from NSH and that's a fair price for Pettersson. For a rental Horvat? That's much too much, even if he were going to a contender.

TOR is overpaying too.

VAN losses the first Dumba trade, EDM loses the second.

I don’t think MIN does the Boeser for Dumba swap unless VAN retains a good portion, even then it’s sketchy. And if Dumba at 50% has the value of a first, they’d make that trade themselves. It’s definitely a hopeful upsell on Boeser, who doesn’t have near that value.

If Edmonton would trade their 1st for Dumba at 50%, I’d rather do that than trade him for Boeser from a Wild POV

Too much for Horvat, not enough for Kuzmenko, the Horvat-Dumba swap is bad for the Canucks, the Oilers trade looks fine, though.

After this Boldy deal, theres almost zero way for the Wild to afford Boesser unless its a Zuccarello (exactly zuccarello) sized contract coming off the books next season.

-Horvat trade is too much - 2 of Nashville's top 4-5 prospects, plus a 1st, plus another prospect in Matier, for a rental in Horvat? That's too big an ask for 25 games of a guy, especially for a Predators team that's 6 points out of playoff position as we speak. Not saying they can't make it, but that giving up a ton of assets for a rental when you're not even in the playoffs right now is a bad move to make.

-Boeser to the Wild doesn't make sense because the extra term on his deal is gonna hurt - the Parise/Suter buyouts are worst in '23-24 and '24-25, when Boeser will be adding $6.65 to that pile of pain. I don't think Boeser's a straight cap dump like some folks around here might, but I do think that Minnesota is an awful landing spot for him because of those cap issues.

-To tie it above - Minnesota actually has the $3M this year to retain on Dumba's deal, so if they think he's expendable (obviously they do if you have them trading him for Boeser), then why don't they cut out the middleman and offer this deal to Edmonton?

What both these Dumba deals ignore is a few things. First, Minnesota is in playoff position right now; and Dumba is giving them 21+ minutes a night to help that. Barring a complete and total collapse over the next 6 weeks, I can't see them moving him out for anything; he makes them a better team and gives them a better shot in the playoffs. Secondly, Edmonton doesn't have even the $3M to add a retained Matt Dumba, not if they want to have Evander Kane back this year; thirdly, Edmonton already has Cody Ceci, Tyson Barrie, and Evan Bouchard on their NHL team at RHD. While I won't disagree that Dumba might be better than some of those options, I also can't see them putting themselves in a bad cap situation for the sake of upgrading the right side of their blueline when it's their left side that has more depth issues.

-I'm not as high on Kuzmenko as you are. Guys just don't shoot 24% over an 82 game season when they're shooting the puck as much as he does (literally, the list of guys who've shot 24% is incredibly short) and I wouldn't want to give up a premium asset for a guy that has a big shot at regressing back to the mean - hell, even if winds up a 17% shooter this year (still very high!) it means that he's only got 6-7 goals left in him at his current shooting percentage. If *you* want to bet on him putting up an all-time shooting season, by all means, go for it - I just think it's setting yourself up for failure.
