Thank you, but the red wings pass on this sir.

I’m not even sure we trade Lindstrom alone for Trouba and that contract let alone a 2nd round pick and arguably our 2nd best defense prospect.

even if i am a MTL fan, i don't think we give enough .
let's be generous and give a value of 1st round(yours between 20-25) +3rd round for Edmunson + a 4th round here in this trade .
the problem i see here it's the 1st round being too late , between 10-12 would be closer to the value i think, maybe even 8-10.
because his first contract just end and he doesn't have the best stats either but he is still a former 1st overall and have not loose that much of value, we know he is stock behing 2 good wingers and did not had the best chance to prouve himself yet.
if the Ranger offer that deal to MTL we take it but i dout it.

I'd take Trouba with 3 million retained for Lindstrom. Only issue is 3 more years of Chiarot and Trouba. Both would be 6 or 7 in the pecking order in 2 years, and almost 10 million tied up in your bottom pair is probably bad, right?

Lafreniere at this moment isnt worth a 8-10 pick especially not this year.

He is a winger who struggles to skate at a nhl level and doesnt have any skills that make up for his lack of production.

And for his raw point totals they likely are never going to get to a impact player level simply because he straight up is useless on the pp. As jfresh pointed out last year in all the tracking they had done over the entire history of their data he had the longest time to obtain 1 PP point.....and he almost doubled 2nd place

People rag on Josh Anderson on here all the time but Lafreniere is just Josh except he doesnt skate, kill penalties, or fight people.

I agree with you, Laf could put it all together as a late bloomer but he could also just be another 1st OVA bust like Yakupov. I might give up a 16-20 pick for Laf but not a top 15 and I am not adding anything to that pick. A deal that might appeal to both sides could be Monahan and Drouin both half retained for Lafreniere and a 3rd or 4th. NY gets a 2nd line center and a winger to replace Laf's "production" for their playoff run. Montreal takes the chance Laf is a late bloomer and if it doesn't work they only lost rentals that would have only returned a 1st and 3rd anyway. IMO it's a win or lose gamble for both sides that would be considered by the GM's but is unlikely to be by the fans on this site.

Weird how the first trade is so bad for the Rangers and the 2nd favors them heavily.

Lmao, I do like both Trouba & Chiarot. That would certainly make for an interesting pairing. It would be fun for maybe a year.

A good reference point is look at 8-13 from his own draft year. Quinn Perfetti rossi askarov lundell. At this point rosso is the only one I would trade straight up for Lafreniere (and thats largely the result of rossi losing a bunch of development time due to illness). Laf isnt outperforming the picks from his own year and this draft is stronger.

At 8-12 this year you are in all likely going to get a high end 2nd line potentially 1st line player. Laf has shown himself not to be that.

Man you need to know the other team needs before making statement like that. They already have Zibanejad Trocheck Chytil Goodrow at C. They don’t need Monahan and especially not Drouin …

They need to get value and even if Monahan isn't at center he is still an upgrade to their forward group for a playoff run. Drouin is just added more to balance out the trade than anything. I mean you could go Monahan and Eddy for Laf + 2023 1st + 3rd but Eddy wants to stay and the Habs want to keep him.

Is Trouba playing that poorly? I mean we all knew the cap hit was an overpay, but 5 million for the xt 3.5 years isn't bad. Of course, if for Lindstrom only.

Yeah, he’s not bad. Honestly, the thing I noticed about his game or the way he plays; he just looks like he doesn’t give 100% out there. There’s a real nonchalant feel to him when he’s on the ice. Like he thinks he’s Randy Moss or something and he can float effortlessly and still be the best player on the ice but he clearly cannot.

That's how big horses move lol. He's a beast defender who would like some help from fellow softer teammates instead of creaming & fighting the league by himself. We'd be a hot mess without him. Hence the need for heavy d & f depth instead of glass stars with big caps

Insanely hard pass from Detroit. Wallinder is an absolute stud and that Trouba contract is an albatross. Even with 3m retained, not paying 5m for the next 3 years for a guy to play on our 3rd pair.

I wouldn't take Trouba for free at this stage, let alone sending assets back... yuck
