Would have a nice group of young dmen in this situation. Then use the majority of those 1sts on forwards.

Not a terrible trade value wise for Detroit however, it certainly isn’t one we need to make. Edvinsson is probably one of the 3 top NHL defense prospects in the league and that draft pick is likely netting another stud player in this draft class.

      Love Hughes, but Detroit passes.

Ya this is a trade I've thought of for a while. I think it would definitely make Yzerman think but not sure he pulls the trigger. Hughes Seider is a dream pairing of mine though. Was hoping the Canucks would get Seider in that draft at 10th.

Yeah, that would be a dream pairing for sure.

I could see the Wings perhaps making a move for Hughes next year, though.

After the 2023 draft, I would do William Wallinder, Ben Chiarot, 2024 1st round pick & 2025 1st round pick for Hughes in a heartbeat.

I'm sorry, Vancouver can screw off if that's what they expect Minnesota to pay for a rental.

Haha that is a totally fair trade. Nothing in that package is particularly valuable.

See Giroux trade last season for comparable. And Horvat is clearly a step up on Giroux. You're clutching pearls my friend. You might not want Horvat, that is personal opinion but that is objectively not a lot to give up for Horvat.

Minnesota is not going to pay two 1st round picks worth for a few months of Horvat. That is horse**** asset management during the buyout years. Go find some other team to bone out of assets.

Thatcher Demko's value is at a low point, so no one's giving you a first OR a top-4 RhD for him.

New Jersey is fighting for the top spot in their division and next year they're only going to get better inserting Alex Holtz and Luke Hughes into the lineup, with Nemec, Mukhamadullin and Walsh coming in behind them down the road and those two first-round draft picks to use. With Hischier and Hughes already at center, and Dawson Mercer a possibility there, making Pettersson a luxury if not duplicative, I don't see why the Devils should upset that excellent long-term plan to add Pettersson at the cost of four of those outstanding futures.

I doubt that Minnesota will invest two first-round draft picks to bring in a rental who will only exacerbate their cap problems next off-season. They're looking for a long-term solution at center, because Bill Guerin knows in his heart of hearts that the Wild aren't winning more than two playoff series this spring.

I agree but I think its close value wise, but Detroit ends up passing. I also don't see Vancouver trading Hughes unless it's an over pay.

I actually don't mind the Hughes trade if the 2023 1st is 10-14 conditional. Or Kasper and Edvinsson for Hughes? A Hughes/Seider top lair would be lethal. Maybe a reworked deal of Peterson to DET and Hughes to NJD makes more sense for all parties though? Wings need an elite 1C.

I don't know if Horvat gets that return though...too much talent available at this year's TDL.

I can't help but think you're trading away the nucks' solutions and keeping the problems though here!

Idk, I think you're sleeping on WW. He's 3rd in points on Rogle this year and really coming into form. Easily our 2nd best D prospect and may even give Ed a run for his money if he spends much more time under Simon in GR.

Lol, I just commented on another post that he’s arguably our 2nd best defense prospect. I am well aware of him. Obviously we’d have to give up someone good in order to get a player like Hughes, right? It just so happens that I’d prefer to hang onto the more NHL ready, higher ceiling prospect in Edvinsson.

I have to agree with this take. It is not even about which prospect is better, it is more about long term fit. They are both big boys who skate better than their frames suggest, but I view Edvinsson as the higher upside defensively. I think having Wallinder and Hughes might be a bit redundant offensively, especially with Hronek still in the fold. All that said, Wallinder may end up being better in the end than Edvinsson.

As much as i would love to bring Quinn Hughes to Detroit, We pass Yzerman loves his big Dmen.

Minnesota isn't moving Lambos for a rental in Bo Horvat, And Minnesota doesn't have the financial means to sign him long term.

"Not big on spending assets on rentals" doesn't mean he won't do it. That likely means it has to be the right player and the right assets. This deal would mostly depend on how highly they view lambos. Also if guerin thinks there is a way for him to move some money around and extend Horvat.

You're looking at this wrong. He is basically saying that if it's a rental, it's going to be like the MAF trade where it's a 2nd round pick that turns into a 1st if the Wild make it to a certain point in the playoffs.

Guerin has traded a total of one good prospect in his 4-5 years as GM: Jack McBain, who was a college player that said he wasn't going to sign with the Wild.

Every other move has been: non-1st round pick (usually 3rd or later) for player (MAF, Reaves, D-Lo, etc) , player on roster for cap dump+prospect+pick or pick+prospect (Zucker, Kunin, Fiala), or essentially player for player (Kahkonen for Middleton, Talbot for Gus, Sturm for Jost, Pateryn for Cole).

That's his MO for trades. Notice how none of them are 1st+top prospect for anyone, let alone a rental.

I'll take Hughes for that provided the pick is top 5 protected.

Did you see they tried a new procedure on Fabbri knee. They replaced the ACL then wrapped it hopefully adding strength so it won't tear so easily.

Yeah I heard them talking about it the other night. After that first period I might wrap something around my neck.

No, I didn't. I said that Minnesota will not pay that and that Vancouver can screw off if they think Minnesota will pay that.

      This you?

"I'm sorry, Vancouver can screw off if that's what they expect Minnesota to pay for a rental"

Sounds like you're saying it's too much to pay for a rental
