I’m not a big fan of Laf tbh, but this is not remotely fair to the rangers. Ur offering a middle six winger, a likely bust, a b level d prospect and a second for a guy who went number one overall three years ago. If the Kirby Dach trade taught us anything it’s that you shouldn’t write off 21 and 22 year olds. And I am saying this as someone who took a major L on my “Kirby Dach won’t work out in Montreal take” lol.

I think ur better off trading all those guys in separate deals and giving NYR the proceeds. Because Kubalik could MAYBE get a 1st and Zadina could get perhaps a 3rd.

So if you sent a 1st, 2nd & 3rd plus Viro to NYR for Laf, you have a better chance (and probably overpaying). All of this to say, the value isn’t necessarily off per sé, it’s just not a great match in my opinion.

This falls more along the lines of quality over quality which isn’t extremely interesting.

That isn't close for Lafrenière that is quantity over quality. Zadina isn't worth much at all. If Viro was ready now I could see NYR being interested because I think he will be better thanr Hájek and Harpur. But Realistically Viro isn't a piece you'd include in a package for Lafrenière. Maybe in a package for someone like Chytil or Kravtsov. But if Detroit is going to trade multiple assets for a single played I think acquiring a center makes more sense.

Didn't Laff say something about being relieved to not be going to Detroit after he was drafted? Screw that guy, he can go be irrelevant somewhere else. If we're going to take on a project from that draft class, I'd rather it Holtz!

It's not enough for Laff though...you might have to upgrade Kuby to Bert and Viro to Wallinder for NY to bite here.

Realistically a trade like lafraniere for byfield is something that makes sense . We dont have that 21 yr old star that hasnt met expectations type prospect to flip. Zero interest in moving kasper which we just got + . Not moving a top 10 2023 pick . Not worth the risk

Did mention above i didnt think the nyr would deal him in the end . They’ll fire the coach before trading him
